I won’t be attending the next 2 matches – but not as a result of the recent results! I am, like many others, a week-in-week-out home and away supporter (only missed 2 matches all season last year due to work – home matches against Salford and Catalans) and I love attending matches every week and supporting the Saints through thick and thin.
The reason for my non-attendance over the next 2 weeks is due to the fact that my wife is due to give birth to our first child and her due date is the 29th March. As we live near Burnley, I don’t want to be an hour away when she goes into labour so I will be watching them on Sky if we’re not at the hospital!!! However, I have told her that if our baby is anything over a week late arriving, I WILL be attending the Wigoon match and she will have to hang on!!!
It will drive me mad not being at the matches against Leeds and Warrington, even though I can watch them on the telly!
I urge everyone to really get behind the lads over the next few weeks. In my 16 years of watching the Saints week-in-week-out this is the most that they have needed us, the fans, to get right behind them. Confidence is shot to pieces, all the 50/50 calls seem to be going against us and even the bounce of the ball seems to hate us at the moment!
Let’s not boo them. Let’s not berate them. Let’s be united and really support them. It’s our turn to stand up and be counted and let’s not embarrass ourselves whilst on Sky – let’s show the world (well, the people watching!) what a great group of fans we are. I hate to say it, but remember Wigoon a few years back when they were going through a shocking spell? Their fans were magnificent. We must do the same.
I will hate missing the next 2 matches and they might be painful to watch but we WILL turn things round and get better. As for my imminent new arrival, me and the wife are properly excited and I have already bought a baby sized kit for him or her to wear! I hope to take him or her to their first match later this season.
COME ON YOU SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
