I'll bet that if you look at the junior grades in the NRL and the better amateur leagues, you will see a big percentage of them are islanders of some descent, whether Kiwis or Samoans/Fijians/Tongans.

I read an article a couple of years ago regarding junior RL in Aus. It seems that a lot of the players with European heritage are being turned away from the game as youngsters because they're getting smashed by kids of the same age who are 2 stone heavier (Islanders heritage). They were considering bringing in a weight split rather than an age split.

If only Russell Crowe owned a club over here as well... dreamland.
