i Spoke to him this morning , he was good enough to do an interview at 20 mins notice, Matt has plenty of qualifications for the role , and with Newcastle going through a huge amount of change , he's seen as a perfect link between the Football and business side of the club.

He's a life member of the Knights loves the club and has been active in the business development side of the club since returning last autumn.

Nothing bizarre about it all

You don't normally see people being employed as the CEO of a multi million pound company with so little time spent in the workplace. I know he has a degree in Business Administration but what experience does he have in the workplace?

I wish him all the best myself. He is a good bloke, was a great player for us and I hope he does really well for himself in his new role.

If I'm not mistaken, I'm sure he'd set up sone kind of consultancy business in Australia to get retiring players back into the workplace. He was well underway with that before he finished at Saints.

He's obviously got a bit of nouse about him and CEO of football operations is not the CEO of the whole Knight organisation. I think he will be successful, just like the whole knights shake up will be.

Have to agree with Saddened here, it's a big ask for a young guy to be CEO even though he is obviously bright and knows RL inside out. I hope he has a good management team around him.

The Denver Broncos have done this with John Elway as CEO but he's a good 10 years since retirement as a player. He seems to have impressed people though.
