| Hang on, let’s not get sentimental over this. Big Mal coached at Canberra (1997 – 2002) with moderate success when the took over from Tim Sheens. He now coaches Queensland to in S of O and won 4 consecutive S of O titles.
Now to win S of O on four consecutive occasions is know mean feat and Mal should quite rightly be applauded for this, but this representative rugby, three matches in a month, with a wealth of talent to pick from. It is far removed from day to day club rugby and the pressures that go with it and coupled with the fact he has been away from club rugby for over eight years makes it a risky appointment for Saints.
I would personally go for someone already involved in club rugby (NRL or over here) be that it a current head coach or assistant coach.
I have always admired Meninga as a player, Saints Legend and rugby personality, but I don’t think it would be a smart move for Saints.

| May be going against the grain but I don't want Meninga.
Too long out of the club coaching scene and not a great success when he was in it.
That Queensland side coaches itself - the key players Lockyer/Thurston/Smith/Slater/Inglis have played together for Oz for years (Smith/Slater/Inglis for the same club) - they blummin well should be romping away with SOO every year.
