Quote="shooter69"what was even funnier than seeing saints fans at wigan last night in there saints tops , i even took a saint s supporter with me to game
Seems to me when Wigan have won these big games, their main strength has been a very enthusiastic and determined defence.
Up quick, in hard, determined on their own line - stopping the opposition from playing.
The key, I feel, is to be patient, grind it out and play rugby when the oppotunity arises. When Wigan beat us at MM, we got flustered, we were only 5 mins in when Graham was kicking the ball on the last. On Friday, Leeds error and penalty count was sky high.
Compare this to the recent Wigan - Wire game - Wigan threw everything at wire in a similar fashion, and looked like the team with the initiative. However, Wire were still managing to go forward with a simple driving game, which kept them in the territorial battle and by the 2nd half the energy had been drained from Wigan effort, allowing Wire to pull clear with ease in the 2nd half.
We've got the players, we just need to be up-for-it but game smart at the same time.
