Referee: Matt Rossleigh (Southern)
Previous Oxford game:
21/01/2017 - London Broncos select 24 Oxford 14 (penalties 7-5 in favour)
That warm-up match (see photo) was his first Oxford refereeing appointment, but he had previously been touch judge on many occasions, and also has refereed Oxford Cavaliers. He’s an Australian, supports West Ham, and gets around the world quite a bit at different sporting events. Last week he refereed All Golds v Newcastle - only 9 penalties all game. If anything like that happens on Saturday, it won’t quite be an Oxford record but it won’t be far off.
Touch Judge: Tom Owen (Leigh)
Has been touch judge at several Oxford games, but the last time we saw him was as reserve referee in the memorable win over Hunslet this season.
Touch Judge: Jason Page (Wigan)
Several previous Oxford games as touch judge, the last one being the famous win at home to Hunslet this season (have we mentioned that enough yet?). Last season he won the Wigan Referee Society’s chairman’s award. And in this photo he conveniently has his initials on his shirt so you can tell which one is him:
Reserve Referee: Callum Kelly (St Helens)
First known Oxford game. Was the 2015 St Helens & Merseyside Community Rugby League Referee of the Year, and also the 2016 St Helens young match official of the year. He’s the one on the left:
Match Commissioner: Dave Moss (Southern)
A regular at Oxford games - last season he did four, all of which were on artificial pitches. And here we are again with Dave as match commissioner and not a blade of grass in sight. I found a picture of him in a canoe, but can’t transfer it to this board. I think that must have been in training for a Cumbrian away game. So instead I’ll just prove that he’s not always acting as an official. Pretty sure that this is in (unforgiveable) rah-rah mode:
