High Hopes, low delivery. Ok, he's gone 60, he's still doing great live shows, but really, it's not great. It's just a good pop record now.

Above & Beyond's Acoustic album

Above & Beypnd are a British based trance act who have decided to turn a selection of there songs acoustic for an album release

What they have done is create a masterpiece of tracks with real touching emotion without the 'boom boom boom' sound of their normal club tracks

A top album which is worth discovering (a full film of of footage of two nights they did in London is available on 'that' video website which they released on Friday)

Absolutely nothing of any huge interest in the pipeline this year for me other than Sonic Boom Six and Random Hand, maybe The Skints too.

But no doubt by the end of the year, I'll have found another dozen great albums. Same every year....

The Prodigy are due to bring out a new album at some point this year. It was supposed to be out last year, but, as with most of their albums, it will be out late.

However, it will be well worth the wait if going off the new stuff they played when I seen them live in Manchester last December.

It will be 24 years this October since they formed and now into their 6th album. Not bad for a band dismissed as a novelty act by certain sections of the media in their early days.

I caught them athe 6 music festival in Manchester and they are very good. I think the casio keyboard sound will put people off at fist but once you realise that its part of the charm you will warm to them. Visually they dont look like any other band and its always good to see everyone in the band singing and loving it. Highly recommended
Also the Outfit played a good set, I didnt catch the horrors but watched them online and they sound great. Theres plenty to watch on the bbc website if your looking for inspiration in 2014

New bears den ep is mind blowing, volcano choirs debut back end of last year was immense.dog is deads new album is great.

Listening to Blackberry Smokes' the whippoorwill tonight. Excellent!!!

Metronomy - Love Letters is brilliant. Picked it up yesterday and played it most of last night and this morning. Quintessentially English pop music in a similar catchy vein to The English Riviera. Well worth a touch.

The vintage Caravans Album "Voyage". Superb debut from the young Icelandic trio.
If you like the sounds of Cream, Hendrix, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin give this a try.

The Rifles new one is brilliant "No Love Lost" every track is worth a listen!

The new Ronnie James Dio tribute album is well worth a listen. Covers by rock & metal bands of Dio classics. i.e. Tenacious D covering "the last in line".

Gotta check that track out. I guess with it being a tribute album Jack Black won't go as over the top with the vocals as I can imagine he might. Shame!
