Well here you’ve got it.
On RLFANS to some people I come across as a small minded Pratt who thinks St Helens is in Liverpool and that all your supporters are scum as does King Monkey. I support Leeds because its my hometown team. Thing is when I watch a game all I want is a game good or bad and a chance to catch up with whoever I’m watching the game with. Anything else is a bonus. We all get our chances to get our bonuses and Leeds didn’t get that tonight.
That’s all rugby league is to me. Like it or lump it!

| Ryan Bailey's big hit tonight was impressive. What was more telling however was the reaction of the Leeds bench to it. They quickly removed him from the pitch because they didn't trust him. In comparison Saints throw James Graham onto the field and his contribution over the 15 minutes after that won Saints the game.
And for all the deserved chest banging glory for snotting Maurie, Mr Bailey didn't half crab his way through the remainder of his few mintues on the field in his attempts to avoid the big red machine.
All in all a great game, thoroughly enjoyable. All that was missing was Mr Bailey using a steel chair on Graham when he wasn't looking, knock the ref out and have a stand in ref award him a try. Sports entertainment at it's best tonight.

| Just to remind a few on here especially G1
This is what I posted last Sunday on the Saints site
Rogues Gallery wrote: This is going to surprise a lot of you on here.
I think Saints will win.
If any of you still have Fridays game on sky+ or dvd or tape watch it again.
Leeds first try, came first from a fortunate 40:20 (the ball took a wicked bounce to the touchline, then Hall loses the ball in the tackle but fortunately it went back, then the pass from Sinfield is very debatable as if it was forward.
Their second try was down to the inexperience of young Ainscough (hopefuly he'll learn)
The third try was never a try, Kirke passes the ball forward and it crosses the 20 metre line, hits the ground before Donald picks it up before passing it on to Burrow who scored.
The referee can't go to the video ref for the forward pass but if the ball goes forward and hits the floor then it's a knock on, which the video ref can give.
Another of the Leeds tries came when Hock lost the ball, except he didn't it was stolen.
Early in the second half Wigan had two tries disallowed, the first one quite rightly for offside, but the second one the Leeds player made the wrong decision and took O'Loughlin who wasn't even moving.
Then Leeds got the benefit of the doubt try when the referee was stood no more that two metres from the players with a clear view. (I don't know if it was or wasn't a try but the ref was in the best position to make the decision)
Saints will not give Leeds the same amount of ball that Wigan did, and they will not get that many favourable decisions away from home.

The rest of the game he was ok at best - or thats how it seemed when there.
And back to the game...
Saints defence in the opening 10 mins of the game was outstanding, I spent that whole time expecting Leeds to get over and when they didn't manage it it must have been a boost to the lads that they could do it. I was very impressed with how we played last night but think we have probably made it even tougher for ourselves in 2 weeks time but we will have to wait and see.

The Saints by 8 points bit is an excellent guess.
The preceeding 10 or so lines are exactly the sort of fantasy garbage that hasn't been posted anywhere by any Leeds fan after the loss tonight. Keep embarrasing yourself, it's nice of you to cheer us all up after we got beat.

All the Saints fans seem to have missed that. Graham was hiding in the middle of the pitch. Why was he not lining up opposite the tap? If I wasnted to have a pop at the guy taking the hit up that's where I would have been - not near the centre spot.

| My overview:
My unwritten law for St Helens is if they hold a full two score lead, you won't win the game. That was the case at half time. We never recovered. Why? Poor one on one defense, simple. Saints all credit to them, the scoreboard doesn't lie, they were the best team on the night. They passed along the Leeds defensive line as much as they could, to get them one on one. So far this season Leeds have loved going in with two's and threes, drivng players back, getting them on their back and that results in a slow PTB with our defensive line easily back. This wasn't the case last night, and Saints strung some neat attacking play together and defended well at crucial times. Brain fart penaltlies didn't help Leeds, but we were outplayed on that day. But Saints haven't got revenge for the last two Grand Finals, they will only get retribution at Old Trafford not in an early doors Two Pointer. Leeds on the other hand can look forward a fortnight to the CC to rectify last years semi collapse.
Individually:
Brent Webb - still getting back into the grove. He looked shattered at the end.
Lee Smith - nice runs from centre, will do well there. But failed to get any quality ball to Donald down the right.
Scott Donald - Excellent in defense. Had another interesting dual with a youngster (Wheeler).
Keith Senior - up and down. Strong running but sloppy at times.
Rob Burrow - unlucky knock again. Poor one on one tackle in the second half which lead to a try.
Kevin Sinfield - tried his best. Quality offload form a 4 man tackle, which lead to our first score. His goalkicking was perfect. And he knew the points difference value of that last conversion, if he missed it Saints would have gone top. I know it doesn't mean a great deal (over a full season) but we're top and his commitment to the cause shows how much he wants to stay there.
Jamie Jones-Buchanan - Stupid. His holding down penalty, then his chelping penalty, conceeded field position which gave Saints the 'roll on' to score two late trys in the first half. He tackled well, but attacking wise offered nothing. Was well contained. With Ali out, we needed him at his strongest, sharpest best. He wasn't.
Matt Diskin - lost the hooking battle with the 'Welsh' tramp.
Kylie Leuluai - Superb first stint. Quiet there after.
Jamie Peacock - Not at the races. Daft penalty.
Luke Burgess - Great second half, inspired by Bailey. Ran with purpose. Good to see his 2009 season has finally started.
And finally:
Ryan Bailey - How good is this guy? He rattles cages like no other in Super League. His huge, legal, shoulder charge laid the ineffective Maurie out. The fan fare afterwards was pathetic. He went in with the shoulder, and the Saints players who cried at that - get a grip. After the hit, Bailey stood straight up and stood his ground. Notice how no Saints player went toe-to-toe with him, just pudding Graham frothing at the mouth, 10m away. And when Graham did put him down, he was third man in when Bailey was static, yeah you showed him. And people say Bailey just does third man in. He was also unlucky when he drove himself into the un-tackled Saints player. I think the penalty was for him being too rough. Bless. He went down with his shoulder and massive body weight. I just get the feeling if it was JP that shoulder charged Maurie, for the same result, nothing would have been said. Bailey's hated by opposition players and fans. And I adore his gritty style, and I have a striong feeling that he loves it too. His huge hit dragged us back in the game, Saints were rattled and we edged our way back into it, thanks to Ryan Bailey. More of the same please Ryan.

And Leeds fans are missing that Bailey's laughable crab towards Graham ended with Graham driving him back 10 metres

Agreed.........what is it with JJB?
Penalties nowadays are often followed by tries............someone needs to have a word.
Diskin......is he really Leeds quality?

With JJB he seems to be liable for at least a silly penalty per game. I thought attacking wise last night he kept in check.
With Diskin, I think he is quality. Not his best game last night, but how many can say that it was? Looking at the start to the season Diskin has been on excellent form, he wants his number 9 shirt back. Leeds' premier hooker, on this seasons form, games played and commitment to the cause.

Graham doesn't hide. You likely won't have seen our final game of last season against Wigan but if you did see it then you know that Graham doesn't hide. I'm not sure he wants to be binned this early in the season either though (given that the fight(s) had nothing to do with him).
I didn't know Gilmour could punch like that. Good job Wilkin jumped in to protect Smith! Smith would have been pulp otherwise!
