| Quote ="Andy Gilder"Lost his pace and made of biscuits. Not going to cut it at a top SL side, time to let him go find his level. Leaves you with a choice of Ablett or Watkins until Webb is fit again and Smith can move into the centres.
Watkins is still too green to play regularly at the top level, he's developing physically, mentally and tactically but needs time and space to do it in.'" I don't know how you've reached that conclusion. It may turn out to be right but he's looked the part before his injury and when he came off the bench against Wakefield looked a lot more solid than Watkins or Ablett.
I think the coaching staff need to give him some game time, and not just one game or 20 mins in one game. I think he needs a proper run before we write him off.
Having said that he really doesn't appear to be in their plans at the moment.
I think Watkins is a real talent but they're handling him well. I suspect he will play the easier home and away games and then be nurtured in the tougher ones.
Personally, I'd chuck him him and live with any mistakes he makes because he looks a real talent with the ball. Let's face it, those holding the fort in the right centre aren't exactly playing mistake free defensively so what the heck.

i would aswell the old saying if he's good enough he's old enough springs to mind it. he'll gain more experience playing first team rather that ripping it up in the junior sides he'll gain nothing from that but all the experience in the world from playing with good players against good players.

| After watching the replay on Sky last night, I've changed my opinion on a few things from my opinion watching live on Sunday
Leeds played better than I thought. All of a sudden the NRL is supposedly miles ahead of SL after 1 result! Utter bollox. Yes, Manly are a great team, and their destruction of Melbourne last year showed that, but the talk of how vastly superior they are is a massive overreaction.
Leeds could easily hold their own in the NRL.
The Ref was right on most calls.
The tackle on Burrow was fair, and certainly not malicious.
Peacock should have got a 'Red'.
Bailey really rattles the opposition, and I'd rather have him at Leeds than play against us.
I expect Leeds to be playing Manly again next year in the WCC.
Bring on Warrington.....

The tackle on Burrow was illegal as contact was made above the shoulder and Peacock's retaliation got what it deserved when he and Perry were sent to the sin bin.
If there's a case for a red card I'd be looking at Bailey's involvement as a possibility.
They'd be a couple of decisions Robinson got correct.

| The issue doesn't seem to be that Leeds cannot hold their own in the NRL, more that with the exception of Saints, only Leeds can hold their own in the NRL.
I'd agree that I didn't see much wrong with the tackle by Watmough on Burrow, it was classic "big bloke tackles little bloke".
We didn't need this game to tell us we are miles behind them.

Always had doubts about his pace and acceleration G1, and the problems he's had won't have made him any quicker.
As for his injury record, I think that speaks for itself.
Strikes me as a Jason Golden type of player. He'll do a job for someone, somewhere but it won't be at a top SL side. Hope he goes on to prove me wrong wherever he ends up but I can't see it.

We dont tackle their fullback after the chip through and the VR rules offside...
Its all ifs buts and maybes. No arguement with Manly but they werent streets ahead of us and over the 80minutes the score refelcts a fair balance.
They added an extra gear straight after the restart for 5 - 6 minutes which we couldnt match.

Manly captain Matt Orford says the 28-20 victory over Leeds in the World Club Challenge was as "tough and intense" =redas any match he has played in
Interesting how that squares with your mate`s views.
Think I will stick with the current WWC winning team captain rather than a retired ex U8`s junior schoolboys champion.

'" Or maybe he's just being polite and gracious in victory and not biting the hand that has just fed his club a massive money spinner?
You should really try and form your own thoughts and opinions.
Personally, I think the truth lies somewhere between the comments in AP's blog and Orford's comments.

| Quote ="John D H"No complaints from me. Beaten by a far better side. No team in this country or (probably) the NRL would have beaten that Manly team. Although I keep asking myself would the game have turned out different if Ablett didn't make that stupid mistake at the beginning of the second half. I doubt it to be honest.
Oh and I think Peacock really let the side down last night not just through his poor discipline, but his lack of bottle to take the ball up instead of blindly throwing a hospital pass to Burrow.'"
I agree about Peacock, his "murder" pass to Burrow cost us our best chance of creating some tries and his bad temper cost us points while he was in the bin. Also he has lost the ability to offload and was playing one up rugby in the final quarter when needed to use some width with several overlap opportunities wasted.
Also agree about Ablett. I think Smith was our MofM and Donald wasted without a centre. Ali didn`t look fit but gave us a lift in second half.
Manly were very good and reminded me how we used to play. I still thnk that the Leeds early season form of last year would have beaten Manly.
What has happened to our offloading, backing up and lines of running. Our game plan now has too much negative one up rugby which is causing injuries and close results.

To be fair Peacock doesn’t throw that many passes and blaming him for wee Rob getting poleaxed is a little harsh, also his spell in the bin was cancelled out by Perry also being binned.

| Manly may be the best side in the NRL but this season even if they are top there are likely to be at least 8 other sides that could beat them on their day. If Leeds were to compete in the NRL the week-in week-out intensity would be an enormous step up.
