Can't fault his effort as usual but gave away a dumb penalty in the 2nd minute that got them off the hook & threw 2 poor passes that cost us possesion early on near their line, all of which meant we had to do more defending that took all the juice out of us later in the game.
I agree re Sinfield, but players stood too flat is our style & leads to throwing so many dubious passes.

Thought that Smith was very poor before he went off. Looked very slow and un-interested, and way off most kicks. sinfield was completely un-recognisable, Hall was generally good, but you can't excuse two cast iron tries bombed

As for "our style" we still normally have at least 1 or 2 options in motion though and i lost count tonight how many times Mcguire,Mcshane and Burrow made a run to have a go at the line and looked for runners only to see half the team stood looking at each other.
I do think our young uns don't deserve any stick because they gave their all imo especially Ambler!

I see yer point mate but Dobson was kicking on the 2nd,3rd and 4th most of the night and he exploited our line not been ready which also made Smithy look way off positioning wise.
I don't think Hall is fully fit but it doesn't excuse his chances bombed.

Ambler, apart from his knock on, was impressive. Long stints, a lot of hit ups and industrious in defence. Looks a very good prospect.

Watts looked good for KR.

Bad day at the office that's all. Rovers were the better team and didnt allow us to play.

We're still missing 7/8 players and it's only July. We shouldnt be wrtten off and Rovers need not get carried away.

not getting carried away but we were missing a few ourselves to the point were we had to borrow 1 off the pies due to having no fit centres at all in the club

McShane at least managed to justify Leeds' decision to recruit a second 1st grade hooker to the squad for the 2009 season.

We had a pretty wide range in the car coming back, but no one thought above 50%

I don't like to criticise young players, but McShane was awful.

In the first half, Rovers ran at him several times, and he missed a few tackles.

I don't know about completion rates but Leeds lost the penalty count 10 - 6 (including two for dissent), they knocked on a minimum 9 times, threw 3 forward passes + another 2 that were intercepted. The attacking kicking game (one effort from Burrow apart) was shocking and in sharp contrast to KR's who forced 6 repeat sets from theirs compared to a fortunate 1 from Leeds.

yet you fail to mention the rovers fans,and i use the term loosely, in our end baiting leeds fans and trying to incite fans. good job the stewards were good and removed a couple.

try and be balanced

lee smith looks twice the player he was before he went to union. sadly i mean his waist line. cumbersome, slow and the turning circle of an oil tanker.
no doubt good pre season will sort it out but god do we miss webb

It does worry me that we can play this badly so often now. I know we have players out and those coming back this week have had lengthy layoffs and need to get up to speed, but our defence is the worst it's been for many years. Points conceded, even in victory, have been way too high. We should be able to match a determined team with a good kicking game, with determination and a good kicking game of our own , but two comfortable defeats in the last 4 games by teams below us does not bode well.

Having said that, I feel for the coaching staff. It's been next to impossible to get any momentum going due to medium term injuries. When you get so many players having 4-12 weeks off like we have had this year (and losing Watkins permenantly this year, who I think would have been challenging Smith at FB at the moment), it's been difficult for us to settle into any type of pattern. Losing Buderus and Eastwood, just as they show up took away any momentum from last week and the Warrington game.

On the plus side, this year has given opportunity to a number of the young players in the forwards to get valuable experience in the first team and given the coaches a chance to assess the likes of Pitts, Ambler, McShane, Clarkson, Coady, Armor etc. Pitts, Ambler and Clarkson clearly look like guys who could be easing their way to regular status in the next few seasons, like JJB, Ablett, etc have done in the past. McShane has not impressed me at all, and the re-signing of Buderus to play alongside Diskin makes it obvious that the coaches aren't thrilled with him either.

Let's hope Hull slip up against Wakey, the Derby game on Humberside looks like it could be a cracker as well.
