My only quarrel is being called "stupid" when me going with the club is no different to you having a pint. (i.e. in that one of us is spending money on something the other would consider wasteful).

I am not asking you to come with the club, nor am I trying to convince you travelling with the club is a better option. I understand it is expensive, I understand there are cheaper ways to go. I (me, personally, this person sat here) enjoyed it last year, and I (me, personally, this person here again) would like to do it again next year. I'm not trying to convince you that you'll enjoy it, I'm not trying to say "my way is better than your way".

All I am asking you to do, is have a valid and legitimate reason for insulting people, and to respect my decision to travel with the club, just as I respect your decision to spend your money on beer.

(Which just out of interest, is money down the drain in a far more literal sense than travelling with the club).

When I buy a pint I get something placed before me that is now mine, I get a refreshing beverage, so imo that is not throwing my money away.

You have been served 2 pints.... One by Mick, your average pub landlord. The other is served by Gary Hetherington. Mick says thats £2.50 please. GH says thats £4 please. But because its GH that has served you it, you happily pay him with a buldge in your trousers.

Well done you. Not sure why you think that interests me but well done all the same.

The cost savings are different, the principles are the same (although you'll have 1 or 2 holidays a year, I'll wager you have a few hundred beers a year). Why it's so important to you what somebody else spends on their holiday is beyond me. I saved a few hundred quid on a trip to Australia a few years back to watch the rugby, but I don't begrudge anyone who spends a few grand to go on an organised package tour to the World Cup and such like.

He can be forgiven for thinking it interests you seeing as you quoted him then commented on it. So if you aren't interested then there was no reason to quote him was there?

If EotB is so adamant that I have to find the cheapest possible price for my holiday, then I'm sure exactly the same principles must be applied to ever other aspect of his life. He NEVER drinks any lager other than the stumpies from Netto, cos they're the cheapest you see. So when there's a cheaper option available, how much you like Carlsberg really doesn't come into it. It could be your most favouritest, yummiest, loveliest, drink in the whole wide world... but EotB lives his life by "Enjoyment/Personal Preference/Convenience/Time Saving is all irrelevant... if a cheaper option is even remotely possible you MUST do that".

You should see the way he longingly looks at other people's steaks in restaurants while he sits there with his chickenless pasta salad and free bread roll. Actually... he must never have been in a restaurant, because you see it's cheaper to go to Lidl and eat own-brand Spam from the tin. He loves the cheapest possibly option you see. That's his law. Still... if that's how he wants to live his life that's fine by me! Who am I to judge?? At least he's not a hypocrite.
