The fact is 4 of their GF team have left the club, so can not play. They have signed two players to replace and promoted from within for the others. All those players are in this squad. The only 2 missing are Cronk and White.
Out of a squad of 23 are people on this board really in a position to determine if Melbourne were picking their strongest line up or not?
Why don't you give us your starting line up for Melboure that you would consider taking it seriously, then we can see how far out we are come Sunday? |

Cronk and White's priorities appeared to lie with participating in the quad nations at the end of 2009 and delaying surgery until after the tournament. I'd imagine they delayed those surgeries with Melbourne's full blessing. |

One thing is pretty certain, Melbourne will field their strongest side available for round one of the NRL competition. The nature/competitiveness of that league demands that.
That is the comparison that should be made with the team that plays on Sunday IMO - if the two sides are pretty similar 1/2 changes then that is a good indication that Melbourne have given the game the gravitas some on here believe it deserves - however if the side show 6/7 changes then you know they have treated the WCC as a warm up game.

OK Serge I think I get it that you're not going to 'reflect' on Melbourne's Round 1 selection for the NRL, despite doubting their attitude to the WCC and stating how best to judge it.

A combination of the WCC and some local rivals has seen us lose 3 games.
But we're only 4 points off top. We need to make sure we win the key games and we'll be right back up there.

For the second week running it appears that Melbourne will field 16 of the 17 players that faced Leeds in the World Club Challenge. (If Ryan Hoffman hadn't picked up an injury in Round 1, it would probably have been the exact same 17 with Ryan Tandy dropping out for the fit again Todd Lawrie.)
The injured players that Melbourne left behind when travelling to the other side of the globe appear to be still unavailable to coach Bellamy and further cements the view that he played his best available side in the WCC fixture that some were suggesting beforehand 'he cared little about'. |

14 of the WCC 17 selected
The 3 that missed out were:
Ryan Hoffman (still injured from week 1)
Adam Blair (suspended in week 2)
Rory Kostjasyn (replaced by =#FF0000Cooper Cronk)
Cooper Cronk (the now infamous number one absentee from the WCC game, staying at home to ensure he was fit for round 1) finally makes it back on to a 1st grade rugby field some 27 days later.
