Remember being at Central Park the time we beat Wigan in that infamous game where Cassidy almost decapitated Morley.

Even with all that came later still one of my top ten Leeds games ever. Absolutely brutal and, yes, it was that man Godden again in the end.

we both stood in the home stand behind the posts and didn't leave until the final hooter had sounded as we didn't want to give the Wigan fans the satisfaction of seeing us walk out early

yep still think morley on mccormack fair and cassidy had to jump to hit morley - was that the godden try forcing his way over against half the wigan team

It was true then and it is now: I remember wins against Wigan more than any other club, which is a great compliment to them when you think about it.

Auld enemy for me Wigan. So many painful defeats to them growing up, and almost always been right up there. Great RL club even if they tend to be massive grubs.

Cats seems keen to take that tag on now. Leigh might be tasty though - rattling better sides is one of their hopes.

The day Offiah signed for Wigan Ronnie Robinson told me "we didnt want him all he can do is score tries" i reminded him of it the day he scored 10.

What a shameful day for our great club that was. Similar, i suppose, to the day we beat Wigan 70-0 at Headingley and they then lost 75-0 to Saints in the cup a week later.

While he has never truly kicked on as we all hoped he would i still see him as a vital.part of the squad due to number of positions he can cover. Im pleased hes staying.

His best position is centre and his utility value has hindered is progression some what, he will be first choice centre with Koni when the season starts Newman will have to force his way back in or await for injuries. Newman and Broadbent will probably be the future still, but like McGuire Burrow Sinfield JJB they will have to earn their place no ones going to just let them have it.

I think that’s right but Newman has potential to get past and stay past Sutcliffe this season.

You’d probably want to ease Newman back in after such a big injury, I don’t have a problem with us starting with LS. Then again we have AS and Broadbent waiting in the centres.

I don’t think he’s a bad player. Again it’s not just about re-signing him, it’s about the terms. How much and how long for - cap spend on what is for me a utility player might be better used somewhere else. We can all have opinions on players but we don’t know the wages.

IMO Newman is a far better centre than Sutty and when he's back to full fitness then he's back in the starting side.

Yes and it’s an extension too so including this year, a 4-year commitment.

Like I said it depends on the numbers but a solid enough player. I just can’t see where he fits in the starting side when others are fit. Same with Myler. But it is a squad game I suppose.

Couple of others we do need signing on though.

I totally buy into the versatility/squad game arguement but 4 years seems mental given the kids we want to develop

He must have had a rethink on being prepared to be a bit part player as beyond being back up at centre I can’t see any other roles unfortunately.

Looking at sinfields comments at the bottom of the article I feel we might see him more starting centre.

He's obviously backing himself to cement a position.A lot will depend on Hurrell if he stays,i cant see Hurrell being offered marquee money.A fit Newman and Herrell will be hard to displace in the centre.

He is the man in possession but things will be interesting when Harry is fit to play.
