I hope that the minutes silence, in respect of Leon Walker on friday goes without any interference whatsoever

It's something that you can't control by having a minutes silence as opposed to a minutes applause, but i hope that all spectators realise that some things in life are far more important than RL!

Such sad news, another tragic loss for Wakefield. Such a young lad, our heartfelt sympathy to his family at this very sad time.

I am going through at home at the moment, kids,rows, monies,work etc etc

My issues are a drop in the Ocean compared to this horrible tragedy and loss..

Got to feel for the family and wakey as a club.

Maybe they as a club need to review their training methods to see if anything they could do to prevent such tragedies. They've certainly been unlucky this year.

That's quite a statement to make about changing training methods. Adam passed away training pre season & Leon passed away due to a tackle. I think the club does everything it can - but sadly these things do happen.

People making comments about "training methods" should desist immediately. They're ill informed and should await the verdict of the cause of death.

Appalling lack of respect really.

I don't usually post on these threads but as I now have my deepest sympathies to Leon's family, the Wakefield club and his team mates who must be very distraught.

Fully agree G1, poker certainly has some strange ideas.

Don't over read the statement boss. Player safety is paramount and i fully expect the club will be already reviewing things from technique, medical health, training intensity levels etc..

I've read that people (not on here) want to sing "theres only one leon walker" after the minutes silence, i just think this isn't appropriate at the moment.

I'm hoping that everyone respects the minutes silence.

Yeah they will respect the minutes silence, im sure.
Yeah i know that its on our Facebook group and my Status had it on too, but whats the problem with this happening, we are remembering a young talent of SL, and a talent that could have been a great SL player, whats wrong with singing "one Leon Walker" in honour of the young lad?

I just simply disagree with it, I know it'll be sung for the right reasons just i think we sing it for each and every one of our players and dont think it's right to sing it for Leon too.

Im not a fan of the singing idea either. Then again though I won't look any worse on anyone that does sing after the minutes silence.

I feel the minutes silence is a fitting and reflective way of remembering one of our Rugby League Family. I certainly feel proud that as a game Rugby League hasn't turned to this minutes appaluse idea and I hope and I do believe that come 8pm everybody in Headingley will respect that.

It's taking things too far IMO. Respects are being paid with the minutes silence.

That has also been creeping into our sport though. There was one at Wheldon Road a few weeks back.

Silence is the tradition and the right way to remember, IMO.

I think it is in the majority of People's opinion. But its so easily spoilt by so few.

Thanks to each and everyone of you tonight, the best minutes silence i've witnessed at HQ for awhile. It brought a tear to my eye how we all joined together to remember Leon Walker. Thanks to those who wanted to sing "Theres only one Leon Walker", i'm glad you didn't ( & if you did im glad i didn't hear you)

The minutes silence at Wakefield tonight was inpeccibly observed although in the end it turned out to be 10 mins and i will admit i did have a tear in my eye during it.
Just seen the interview on Skysports with his mum and dad very moving.
Its nights like this why you find out why RL is the greatest game.
