| Shaun Wane, a serial proven winner, isn't going to come to Leeds as a defense coach. Who do we think we are?!

He'd still be an upgrade on Cuthbertson who no longer has the go-forward to make his offloads effective and is no big hitter in the tackle either. But yes, a player who can defend would be better still.

| I can understand people seeing Wane as a solution, but Inpersonally cannot abide the club signing people who have a deep rooted hatred for Leeds. And for that exact reason, Lowes should be nowhere near our club either - those who are unfortunate enough to know him will know he's an Hunslet lad through and through and despises Leeds - has made no secret about it during his times away from the club.
I get these people are professional, so should be able to put their irrational tribalism style hatred to one side for their job, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

| Quote ="Mark Laurie"Agree with Biff, we are 10 games in and have been on the slide for 3 years. I know we won in 2017 but other than Cas and Hull, everyone else was rubbish. since 2017 we have lost McGuire, Burrow, Moon, Hall and Delaney and Ablett, JJB & Cuthbo have gone a long way down the mountain.
We nearly went down last year,
Our spine is as a raw and uncoordinated as you can get, a kid at Fb blowing hot and cold , 1 new half who is unfit and has no confidence, Myler who has only been here just over a season and is playing with different key men every week and 2 hookers who are runners / off the cuff merchants.
The pack is the poorest in the league, probably bar London. This is a huge job and I suspect even bigger than Furner would have originally thought.
The defence should be better.
I don't know what is left on the cap but we should be looking at getting in another half to go with Myler as matter of urgency. Offer salford a decent wedge for Hastings, he is only on a 1 year deal. He never stops talking and telling people what to do and that is what our team of mainly cloth-heads need.'"
Good post.

| S Wane went to RU on the same principle as Edwards, lots of money to be made, unfortunately SRFU are skint so he may be an option going forward, but would he come here, he still has the same rubbish to work with, the old saying you can't make a silk purse out of a Sows ear rings true. Look at some of the contracts given out and the players signed. Ablett 2 year deal - busted, Crosby -busted, GOlding 4 year deal playing at Fev, Lilley 4 year deal playing at Bradford, Luke Bisco 3 year deal playing at Fev, Curhbo given a 3 year deal Busted, then we sign players from the bottom of the super league, Albert, Donaldson, we also offered Jordan Thompson a contract and he turned us down. Guys we are really poor with recruiting and no one holds their hands up and takes responsibility. No doubt next week we will be signing Rangi Chase, he is out of his drug ban send SInfield over we can give him a 3 year contract, don't put it past Sinfield because so far his recruitment head been shocking

I know youve got something against Sinfield for whatever reason but he didn’t resign half of the players you mention and neglect to mention the 2 players he did sign who have been our best two players.
I don’t particularly agree with him signing Ablett JJB or Briscoe but he gave his reasons for the JJB and Ablett resignings he wanted them to show some leadership and show what the ethos of the club is/was, Crosby has been unfortunate with injuries but may well play a decent role this year when fit.
In a salary capped sport you cannot sign a squad full of superstars or just get rid of contracted players, there have been 11 departures from last seasons squad including a number of players who people on here were desperate to get rid of

I get on OK with Sinfield like I do with the other Directors, I let them know what I think and why, I work for a firm with a good culture, I employ people and within that culture are staff appraisals, nothing would give me greater pleasure if I could score them all as exceeding their objectives, unfortunately, they have all been underperforming, they need to understand that they need to improve from the very top downwards . I believe that is fair criticism, its nothing personal aimed at Sinfield or others, but the only way they will improve is if they admit their mistakes, at the moment I do see this happening. Please Christopher in all walks of life we are open to criticism, it is how we react to criticism that makes the person and improves the person going forward

How do you know what’s been said in the boardroom or to the coaching staff and players? do you think they think it’s all going swimmingly?
I’ve said before I do not give a stuff about a a PR piece in the media or them admitting their mistakes to the public, I would prefer them to get on with fixing it.
I employ people aswell and if they make mistakes or are inderperforming we sit down together and figure out why and how we fix it, I don’t tell our clients about it though.

Exactly this.
Lets not also forget we pay our hard earned to follow this club home & away and also the extortionate amount they charge for mostly tat in the way of merchandise.
The recruitment retention & performances have been shocking and way below any kind of transition period.
Those in charge & on the field deserve calling out on it.

Brodie was blaming Sinfield for recruitment decisions made before he was at the club as DOR.
The club realised change was needed across the board so it sacked its head coach brought in Sinfield and a new coach changed backroom staff and signed some new players, and cleared some more players out. Now it isn’t going well at the moment and quite rightly the new regime needs to step up but it’s disingenuous to lay the blame on Sinfield especially for the signings he didn’t make.

Sinfield re-signed his 2 past it mates Crosby Luke Briscoe Donaldson Llohea & Uncle Albert all shocking calls.
He instigated the departure of Garbutt without signing a replacement when we all knew we'd need at least 2 props and quality ones at that.
2 marquee signings dont overshadow that s#*# show.
Too right Sinfield deserves calling out on it as does GH for letting the swuad stagnate with has beens & never will bees.

| Sinfield - "it is rare in the modern game for any Super League club to sign an international class 23-year-old from the NRL and I am sure he will be a popular addition to our squad." ...hmm. he's been here about 6 months and still in no better shape, how is that possible in a full time training environment?!

If things aren't going well the first people to feel it are your clients - if things are going well are the business is making heaps of money your staff apraisals are less problematic.

Sinfield does deserve criticism for some signings (he won’t be the first or the last make some bad calls re recruits) he also deserves time to implement the things he was employed to do, he has consistently said that their is no quick fix to the problems the club has at the moment.
We have a whole load of players off contract at the end of the season, a great crop of youngsters coming through, knee jerking will do the club no favours at this point, I still think we will finish mid table ish this year which is realistically expect to be.

| I'm not sure how we did it, but we got rid of Ben Walker mid season and mid contract a good few years ago, but he actually had the fitness/physique of a pro athlete but could not defend for like Lolohea either.
Shocking signing, we need to attempt to get out of this deal as he also will be on a big wedge.

'" Walker didn't go mid-season, he played right to the end and the thrashing at Wigan in the play offs. A mutual arrangement was made for him to leave after the end of the season when he went back to the NRL.

| Walker's points scoring seemed to blind people to the fact he was in fact rubbish. Lolohea won't be wanted by any NRL team if he can't get into the worst team in SL.
What we could do is properly "performance manage" him WRT fitness. I don't see any downside - either he gets fit and therefore does better on the field, or he doesn't and he gets fired. I don't see how Leeds as his employer aren't entitled to expect him to meet pro fitness standards. The only excuse for not being fit is injury.

| Back on topic, whilst there's still a fair chunk of the season to go we need to start getting wins fairly soon unless we want to risk everything on the back end of the season. We saw how this squad played under that pressure last year and it wasn't pretty.
I wouldn't say we're there yet but Leeds would have to look at extreme measures if we get much past halfway through the season with a gap to the next team above us.

What’s been really annoying for me this season is the close losses which could define the season, close the Saints game out (in which we were the better team) and cliose the Catalan game out (again in which we were the better team) and close the London game out (which was bloody criminal) and we are sitting in the top end of the table.
We have looked far better in attack than previous seasons (the stats prove this) but we have looked worse in errors and defence(again the statd prove this)
I fully expected a season of inconsistency but what have had is consistency, but the wrong type!

Equally McShane should never have been on the pitch. He should have been sent off, all the stadium saw what happened except the ref and touch judge.
Comments after the game from Powell did not help.
We are in trouble and the players know that, speaking to Cuthbo before the Cas game he did say that for the players that we have at Headingley we should not be in this position and frankly they cannot understand why they are in this mess.
if the players don't know why we are at the bottom then we are in trouble, I know certain people on here always want to contradict what others are saying, as if they know best, but we need this team to start to perform and start being open to criticism. If not how long do we expect Furner to last. There has to be a plan B going forward if not that in itself has to be neglect.
