| Quote ="Rich Rhino"Not really. A responce was 'I don't give a foook'.
So my responce to that is 'why comment on the thread if you don't give a foook'
If I was in a pub with 5 friends and talking to 2 of them. The otehr 3 would not interupt and say 'I don't give a foook'
Unless it was a joke
'"
If you are refering to me or Wilko i think you are missing the point.
The point me and wilko were making was not giving a flying fook about how many fans turn up for the CC match or what other fans make of it.
Also that it's not a big deal how many % of season ticket holders buy a ticket for this match.
It wasn't saying we don't give a fook about the CC or this game.
Oh and you weren't saying it was a disgrace when this season ticket holder passed on one of his freebies for the cod head game because he wasn't going!

Depends if they've managed to snag a couple of Cheapskate Special train tickets for the journey down.

| I have no issues with anyone who attend just finals.
Clubs need such fans as much as the regulars, else Old Trafford and Wembley would have 20,000 or a lot less every year.
I'm there to offer support when it matters!!

| i can understand why people choose which games to go to.
people don't have the money to go around at the moment. i went to hull because it was free, although i did have petrol and parking to pay for. i wouldn't have gone had to had to pay £20 to get in.
i missed the blackpool game because i didn't want to go to a one sided game against a vastly inferior side. harsh maybe but true.
i am going to the wigan game and to be honest i am a little suprised at the poor sales. it promises to be a thriller.
lets just hope the fat dick sat behind me exercises his right to watch on the bbc

My kids have now past the Junior stage so if I were to go to an away game on a Friday, straight from work it’s going to cost:
4 x £20 for tickets = £80
Fuel = £10
4 x burger, KFC, Fish & Chips etc. = £16
Round it off to a neat £100 then x that up through the season to, let’s say 10 away games and it’s you’re looking at the think end of a grand.
Plus 2 x adult and 2 x student season tickets = £600
Now add to that France, London, play off games, the Magic Weekend and the now obligatory Grand Final.
The domestic season suddenly runs to £2,500 - £3,000
Is it any surprise that the Challenge Cup gets side-lined?

Yes but try and explain that to a 16 year old who cannot understand why no-one else only wakes in a morning in order to worship his football/rugby team, the latest X-Box game or his choice of American Wrestling Series, and you'll be explaining it to a blank space inside his brain that has no storage capacity yet.

If they reach Wembley, yes, no doubt about that. The remaining 8 clubs will all be looking to stay in the comp as long as they possibly can.
That will remain the case with or without the house full signs going up.
It's certainly a turnaround from the seventies and eighties when it was the challenge cup that packed Headingley and elsewhere much more than the league games.

| I dont understand the money argument
either you want to go or you dont, if you dont want to go thats fine, there is no need to give any excuse
if it was a problem getting a final ticket then i'd like the club to give first choice to those who attended the earlier round games, but Wembley is far too big for us to worry about that

The Cup is important and I do want us to win it but IF a choice has to be made a 4th consecutive title would add to the history we're making. A potential one off cup win wouldn't have anywhere the same importance.

Honestly, it really isn't. Ticket sales back that up. We want to rack up titles. We already have a respectable CC haul.
Opposition fans often claim we degrade the CC because we never win it, but we just don't care about it all that much, hence the crap ticket sales.
We want grand finals, not CC's, it's as simple as that.

| Well I want Leeds to win the Cup.
The serious part of this thread does need to be thought about - namely the complete collapse of crowds attending CC games. The RFL may have to look at restructuring it somehow, although I can't think of a solution that would suit all teams.

Well if 10 Challenge Cup wins in my 27 years of living is "little success" then I must be crying into my beer every night of the week. Yes long time ago since the last one I know but it'll just make the next one all the more sweeter.

| You've answered your own question! The CC has been a rich vein of success for you. We have our own in the SL at the moment. Perhaps if you'd won 4 of the last 6 SL titles the CC woudn't seem like such a big deal!

it's over 10 years since you had a trophy that's a long time to go I agree. if Leeds go 10 Years without winning a trophy and us fans were posting about our unpresidented success in the modern era 07,08,09 we would get hammered by other fans.
I think the next trophy for you lot will be sweeter because it will have been earned on a level playing feild.

There is a simple solution.
The cup starts as it does now, and finishes at the end of May, close to as it used to do.
What we have now is a ridiculous competition that starts near the beggining of the season, and ends near the end of the season. There is far too long between rounds and the final. And that final is far too close to the premier cup of the GF. That is what makes it a minor trophy and labelled as Mickey Mouse cup.
