He would have been out of contract at the end of 2008. He renewed during that season.

how very true, someone who knows the score, one of the victims (at the trotters) was a certain martin flay (not sure about the spelling) legend has it that martin took the wrap for somebody else, but ive heard other stories about him and he is certainly no angel, but on this occation has to be commended for his actions.

exactly, but do you go round menacing people (who are much weaker than you) for "protection" money? i know a local bar owner on campus who was by mr richardson, just saying he's no angel.

I don't think a company like William Hills can be seen to promote this type of behaviour. Their policy would be that if someone is armed and demanding money, give them the money and let them walk away without any hassle. Then call the police and have them deal with it.

It's alright lauding Martin for doing this, but next week when someone else steps in to try and stop the robber and ends up with a bullet in his chest it's not going to look so bright.

If a person was being attacked then I hope that I would step in to stop an attacker. But I just don't see any sense in risking my own life for a handful of someone else's cash, a car, or a laptop. I know people have a go at the health and safety culture of today, but the guidelines over dealing with robbers is spot on.

You never know what you are gonna do in such situations until you are in them .
Woud you tackle an armed robber ?
Would you break your way into a burning house and rescue the family inside ?
Would you floor three muggers that tried to have your phone ?

You can't say for sure until you are there . The last thing on your mind will be risk assessment .
