The Saints pack of Haggerty, Fieldhouse, Arkwright, Round, Forber, Liptrot would have twwated any Leeds pack of the present generation. The chicken wing tactics tonight were pathetic. A blight in the game in general.
Bring back the good old biff if we want to go down that 'physical' route.

If that Saints pack would have tvvated any Leeds pack, what would they have done to a bunch of pu55ies who accept chicken wing tactics without any reply?

I'm sorry to have to break this to you, but they weren't. When you've seen the Widnes pack of the 80's all this c**p comes into perspective. Leeds put themselves about a bit and came away with the 2 points. The ref didn't miss much (apart from sin binning Lee Gilmour for punching Sean Long ), and we still won the penalty count. The game as an entertainment spectacle, is damaged more by messing about at the play the ball, not square markers and persistant offside. And clear winners in that department today were Stains.

| Rugby League fan in Peace!
Everyone knows this game has edge, everyone knows both camps have and will continue to have history and personal issues.
Thats why i decided to watch it tonight on Sky rather than tune into BBC Humberside.
But what i cant understand or even begin to accept are chicken wing tackles or hair pulling!
These guys are professionals and KNOW what they are doing!
JJB (or any other player!) should never deliberately try to injure a player in an illegal way. If an injury occurs due to a bone crunching tackle, then so be it, as long as its legal and well intentioned (for the most part) then thats part and parcel of RL. Wrenching a players arm into an unnatural position whilst he's prone on the floor is simply cowardly and should carry a 6 match ban along with 6 matches wages fine.
As for hair pulling - youre kidding me!
16st + guys resorting to the actions of a schoolgirl in a playground.
Thats up there with eye gouging. Cowardly and ultimately the actions of a very very pathetic person.
It doesnt matter if the player is young, old, black, white, dreadlocked, shaven, hated or loved - its above the shoulder, therefore its OUT OF THE EQUATION.
And to the poster who suggested the tackler was going for collar - well i can pretty much assure you that polyester/cotton feels very different to human hair!

| Senior got yellowed for how good his slap was rather than what had happened. Graham was doing a Maurie faking an injury, should have been a Leeds penalty.
Leeds won against a very opposed video ref and ref. It's time the refs gave leeds some 30/70 calls.

| IMHO Graham is a quality young prop who i think is a shoe in for england but tonight he was handed a good old fashioned spanking!!
I won't say anything about the chicken wing incident as i've yet to see it on T.V. but he did do a good impression of ronaldo from roling about squawking on the deck to getting up and making a miraculous recovery.
ATEOD there's still plenty to play for and the season is far from decided.

How dare they not allow him to rampage freely across the turf like the thoroughbred he is. Don't those nasty Leeds forwards know how great he is? Don't they know that the entire 19K crowd had come just to see him?
Shocking. No, really.

He was given a lesson by Peacock.. again. When he retired after his 20 minute battering by the Leeds pack, Peacock was still rolling it forward for Leeds.
In fairness to the guy he was obviously targetted, which to me is a mark of respect from the Leeds coaching staff and players. We learned the lesson from the previous league game where he completely lost it. It's obvious he genuinely hates Leeds and we made the most of it.

I don't even know what a grapple tackle is? This is a new one invented a couple of years ago because we can't get people in a head lock any more. 90% of tackle pre-1990 would have been illeagal under this rule.
Has anyone actually ever been injured by a grapple? I haven't seen that many games recently but I can't recall a player going off hurt after one. Certainly can't be classed like a spear or the late forearm to the mush (Stains fans must surely remember they used to have a guy called Sonny Nickel in their team ).
As for the hair, I just laugh. I watched it on tv and it wasn't much of a pull, it was a grab for Long and the Leeds player got a bit of shirt and a bit of hair - and he let go of the hair straight away (or it slid through his fingers by the look of it). But you're right, we like to claim it's the toughest team sport in the World then people froth over that? I'm lost.

| I'm a critic of todays game, but i enjoyed last night, bit of old fashioned biff, players looking over their shoulder, thats why this thread has 7 pages.
As for the saints fans calling leeds players, well there was an element of foul play but what leeds really need to compliment their dirty scumbag team is a stand off who can flippantly stick a glass in someones face. (you know the bloke who hit sinfield from behind in the semi the other year)
Pricks.

Superleague-only supporters just don't know what its like to watch your opposition team run out onto the pitch and YOU be scared just looking at them from the safety of the southstand, the likes of the Hulmes, McKenzie, Sorenson and a little earlier Karalius and Mills would make you take a step backwards further up the southstand steps if one of their runs was angled in your direction.
I'd love to see ANY of Dougie Laughtons teams be cited for hair pulling, his response would be unprintable.
