| I was worried the 'red hair dye' suggested a 'fun' mentality, not a serious one. The attitude was wrong from the start - how often does a side concede a penalty on the first tackle of the game? Red hair or not, our attitude was awful regardless of how good Saints were - we didn't play like we were taking the game seriously or prepared to work hard at it.
On a different point, the worst bit of the commentary was their implied belittling of our Grand Final win - if Shenton/Wellens had stayed on would Saints have won? Nonsensical and disrespectful.

I know stevo isn't a expert when it comes to hair and it will have been a fair few years since he visited a barber shop but how long does he think it takes to dye hair. They haven't spent all week faffing round with their hair. Usually these things are good for team spirit and lots of teams do this. It didn't do Wigan any harm when they sported the tashes

| Whilst I don't think for a second that the hairdo's had any impact on our performance at all, the one thing worse than being emarrassed the way we were tonight is being embarrassed and looking like idiots in the process. Whilst I don't fully agree with Eddie and Stevo, I think turning up to a game looking as stupid as Leeds did tonight actually is quite unprofessional - there were many other ways we could have raised money for charity, surely they could have found a better way than this? Whilst I don't doubt Leeds' professionalism and preparation as a whole, I found it very hard to take them seriously looking like that - it just didn't look right at all. Gimmicks like these often seem to have a habit of coming back to bite you on your a$$ - I seem to remember the Bulls players running on to the pitch in shades at Odsal once, as part of a "Men in Black" gimmick - all looked a bit stupid when we handed their a$$es to them that day, and in the same way, the Leeds players trudging off today looking the way they did made us look more stupid than we usually would have done after such a defeat. Each to their own of course, and I'm sure there are many who found it fun - I'm just embarrassed that the Super League and World Club champs were not only embarrassed on the pitch on live tv, but also looked like fools in the process

Rather than " finding it fun" they raised money for alot of worthy causes. Yes they looked silly in their hi vis pink hair but it isn't about being embarrassed alot of the money raised is well spent and goes to people who desperately need it.

| I have no doubt they raised a lot of money for very good causes, and would always applaud such a thing. However, I'm sure they could have raised just as much money by doing other things which wouldn't have resulted in them looking as daft as they did tonight.

| Playing in a game of professional sport in front of a large crowd and featuring Live on TV whilst having bright pink hair would not aid your mental preparation and focus for the task in hand. It was a stupid thing to do, i don't for one minute think that was the reason we lost, but i do believe it had a bearing on the manner in which we lost.
Raising money for a good cause is great, doing it in a manner in which compromises your mental state before & during a game in which attitude is paramount is not great.

| Well it never harmed Scott Donalds performance. in all seriousness it was for a good cause, and I doubt they would have made as much money if they would had decided to have worn a red band, or something like that. I think Peacock's tweets sums it up pretty well.

Preparation at all. We got beat by a better team on the night and the hair had sod all to do with it.

| Fair enough wearing the socks to support Sport Relief, but I think the pink hair must have been a distraction for the players, and management. How could the coach rollock the team at half time, when they looked like a box of matches?
Not saying the result would have been too different as Saints had a blinder. It reminded me of when Saints dyed their hair blonde when they played in Aus, and got thumped too.

That annoyed me too did that. Not content with attempting simultaneous orgasms from the commentary box they're now trying to rewrite the record books.

Really laughed at this
Leeds were crap tonight....pink hair or not (why did [uall[/u the team not sport the same hair do?). However I have to agree it didn't help in being convinced of the team's attitude to winning this match.

They were at it Friday night too referring the Wigan and Warrington game to the "real" grand final and the "other" grand final. Just don't get what there problem is with a team thats been champions 4 of the last 5 years!

| Thought it came across as massively disrespectful to a Saints team who were very obviously going to be well up for that game. It may or may not have disrupted preparations but in my book it was unprofessional to even take the chance that it might - or to provide further incentive to Saints.

| I don't have a problem with the Hair thing, it's part of team bonding and for a good cause. I do have a problem with the way we played (or didn't) and this is the thing we need to sort out, not the colour of their hair.

Dissagree. Yesterday right form the off was an attitude problem rather than a quality/talent issue. Their heads were completely in the wrong place leading up to that game. It doesn't take much to be confident of attributing some of that to the silly hair thing.
What started out as a good cause and the club trying to make the right noises, turned out a complete and utter embarrassement. They looked an absolute joke to a national audience.

| You still on the "hair do crusade" Gotcha just like when you singled out JJB for his charitable efforts a couple of seasosn back how did that one end again??
The defeat was down to us been cr@# and ST's playing very well and no amount of hair dye can contribute to that.
Hair Do's don't influence how you tackle ,run ,pass or kick do they or have you unearthed a coaching gem?
Just to add this wasn't done 2hrs before the game theer was still plenty of time to "re-focus" on RL.

Nail on head.
I actually was pretty appalled at the petty nature of Eddie and Stevo's comments. The lads raised a lot of money for a worth cause. I don't think it had anything to do with our shoddy performance and is disrespectful to the quality of Siants performance to suggest otherwise.
We got caught cold against a quality and very motivated Saints team. It happens. It's happened before without dyed hair. It will happen again. When the Saints team sheet was read out I thought, that's a quality line up, regardless of their form.
Not to mention we had two of our best backs (and playmakers) and two of our best forwards missing, not that that excuses the abject display from those selected.

Still on the "hair do crusade"? That's my first post.
Singled out for charitable efforts? What charitable efforts? are you saying his mutton chops were for charity? or have you got completely confused with something else?

Don't dissagree with your usual narrow minded view. Which is why I concentrated on looking outside the obvious. And posted about attitude, as per:
Quote ="Gotcha"Yesterday right form the off was an attitude problem rather than a quality/talent issue. Their heads were completely in the wrong place leading up to that game.'"
If you dissagree, fair do's not an issue, but let's read the post properly first and actually take into context what was put.

Jjb raised £££ for charity by raffling off the right to shave off his mutton chops did he not?
Call it narrow minded all you want it had NOTHING to do whatsoever with the Red hair of the events in promoting their Sport relief actions.

Did he really? I suggest you look back and get your timescales correct on it. I'm by know means saying I didn't slate the mutton chops of JJB. But seriously let's not get into silly pishing contests that it was all for charity in the first place, because it wasn't when I were slating them, not that it would have made a difference anyway.

And I dissagree. It's my opinion that their heads were elsewhere, and they showed a wrong attitude at yesterdays game. Their preparations were not as they should have been, and IMO that was down to taking time out of their preparations for silly pish takes.

I love how you describe an action to raise money for Sport Relief as "silly pish take" and blame an all too regular ST's away performance on the few hours the squad took out of their week to support that.
ATEOD hairstyles or charity awareness don't win/lose RL matches nor do the few hours out of the week taken to support it.
Or are you suggesting the players missed training to do it?

| People seem to forget/or not know that Leeds players usually do bits of charity work every week that last several hours. Danny McGuire for example often does things with Leeds Mencap during the week before a game, is this a shocking bit of unprofessionalism also?
A few weeks ago Sinfield, Watkins and Hardaker went down to Eton Uni for the day to give speeches, didn't stop them winning against Castleford.
The only unprofessional part about it is the students at Thomas Danby College can't seem to tell the difference between red and pink.
Some people can blame hair for a defeat if they want, all it proves is that if brains were made of chocolate those people wouldn't have enough to fill a Smartie.
