I don't think there is anyone in the game, who had nothing to do with my club that I liked as much as Sir Bobby Robson.

Very sad, like i said on the sinbin thread, i was at the charity football match for his foundation on Sunday, i'm glad he was there and felt upto going. He had the decency to go onto the pitch and shake each one of the players and officials hands, whislt 38,000 fans were chanting 'theres only one Bobby Robson', he took time to wave to the crowd and thank them for their support whilst quite clearly not feeling his best. What a true gentleman, an inspiration and a role model!

A sad loss to the footballing world.

Something a few of the current bunch of whiny, moaning prima donnas would do well to reflect on this weekend, rather than getting tanked up and trying to beat the snot out of DJs or spit roast teenage girls.

They contain vitamin b17 which attacks cancer cells

If you eat 6 to 10 of these a day you are much less likely to get cancer.

This was a gentleman who steered his country to the semi finals of a World Cup, won trophies across Europe and yet wanted to be seen as a normal bloke true to his North East roots

Away from football he has battled cancer 4 times and won, unlucky the 5th time got him

Heard it on my way to Edgbaston for the cricket and having met Bobby a couple of times I arent ashamed to say that I shed a few tears.

A truly great, inspiring, special man.

A little story I heard in the radio several years ago....two fans from Ipswich went over to see Robson's Dutch team, after he left to coach abroad, and they met him after the game.

He didn't know them from Adam but asked them where they were staying and could he drop them off. They hadn't booked anywhere and so he insisted they stay at his place. Can you imagine any football manager doing that today ? Says it all about the man.

One story that came out during the tributes was when he was manager during the 'Hand of God' game with that cheat from Argentina.

After the game, the England team returned to the dressing rooms angry with what had gone on and demanding a replay.

Robson stood there impassively, telling the players they'd done well, but generally keeping calm.

When the noise finally started to subside in the dressing room, he spoke ....

At that point, the players dignity was restored and they all got back on the coach with no more talk about replays or retribution. It speaks volumes for the bloke.

Imagine that nowadays and the whinging, complaining, moaning and endless press conferences we'd have to suffer from some lesser men ?
