So let's hope the higher profiled player's testimonial doesn't detract from a real clubman's reward for 10 years (in the main comparatively low paid) loyalty.

Having (I presume) two testimonials running at the same club at the same time is a bit barking.

Peacock played 29 times V Leeds and that's 29 times more than JJB has.

I know what yer saying mate but surely you agree JP deserves the recognition of a testamonial.

Call me old fashioned but historically players giving 10 years loyalty to one club have deserved a Testimonial season.

Peacock is effectively getting a Leeds Testimonial on the back of 3 seasons. I say Leeds as it will be supported by his current team's supporters in far greater numbers than any other club's.

Basically I don't agree with a club running two Testimonials simultaneously unless (as in the case of Phil Cookson and Steve Pitchford) it's an joint testimonial.

Peacock will have done well because of the salary he could command he was a free agent and several clubs were jockeying for his signature.

A player like JJB who has remained at 1 club will never benefit from that market force and that is what a testemonial should be for.

You know what is really interesting? We had a massive thread with many of our own fans recently questioning JJB's entitlement to a testimonial.

None of those protagonists have come on here to question Peacock's entitlement to one.

jjb ,ok his appearances have been liminited for 10 years service ,but he still deserves his testimonial year by the way he has kept going and not giving up and then becoming the valuable senior team member he is today.

Think it looks a cheap mix of a market style England shirt that seen on many of chavs during the football world cup with a mix of the past GB sleeves on.
And the JP10 logo looks naff.

Players can celebrate after every game if they wish and many still probably do so in places like Warrington and Wigan but it's the sanctioning of Testimonials that is the issue here.

That being the case you can bet Leeds were forced in to some acknowledgement of that sacrifice by his agent when negotiating his contract only 3 years down the line he still gets one awarded by the RFL.

As a side issue you're handing JP a big fat cheque directly related to his pro rugby career that almost certainly doesn't count against his present clubs salary cap.

Is that equitable?
