| I'm a bit surprised by how negative all the reaction is regarding Agar. I can't say I'm thrilled with the appointment, but surely we can at least judge him on how the team performs. I for one think there has been an improvement so far under him - at least we're competing!
The overwhelming response from player who have played under him on twitter was really positive, and I think it's also fair to say that people can improve in there jobs and get better where the may have made mistakes in the past. He's gone to Aus to learn there, and has just had Wayne Bennett in for some sessions. Strikes me as someone who wants to get better....

| Depends what style we want. Agar strikes me as a thinker and manager. I liked what he was saying when he came in, regarding the areas we were weakest in. Some improvements seen.
We don't need perfect this year, we just need good enough to avoid relegation. The Tui for Lui swap will potentially be the big one IMO. Lui isn't the best player in the world but he does have a skill set we massively lack at half.

Totally agree. It's all fine to say we want a 'better' coach, but better how? Also, there isn't a large pool of really great coaches in RL let alone a large pool desperate to come to us.
I get why agar doesn't get people all moist but at least give him some credit for getting the team interested again.

Where has Wane said he wants the job?
He's said he'd talk to Leeds but that's nowhere near him saying he wants it.

| Would Wane be happy with Sir Kev sat on his shoulder man managing everything? I can't imagine that Wane's hands were tied by Radlinski at Wigan

| Would Leeds fans be happy if Wane came in?
I certainly would. Proven winner with a fantastic record of giving youth a chance.
I would be very excited if Wane was appointed.

It's just Agar + Kev.

| Can’t see Wane for two reasons.
1) it hasn’t already happened
2) Wane is very big on control and culture, the way he sees it. Would be very surprised if his world view didn’t clash with Sinfield’s - and Leeds is now Sinfield’s project.

Wane's brand of rugby is nor particularly one I would look forward to watching.
He has been successful but that was with a club he had passion for and had worked for all his coaching career, he was successful in bringing some youngsters through because he also coached them at junior level.

Well you say that but for me all the best coaches are contracted to clubs and coaching now.
Holbrook and Powell are probably the only SL coaches I would be interested in.
Many of the NRL coaches are ego machines actually... of course you'd have Wayne Bennett but I doubt that will happen, certainly this side of a Premiership win for Souths.
Demetriou is well regarded and knows the English game but unproven at first team level.
I don't think the pool of suitable candidates for Leeds is very deep. There's no point in going there unless someone can bring significantly more than Agar, and right now he's in a honeymoon period with the players and it's kindof working after a fashion.

The thing is the whole lot needs a shake up from a coach with some standing given the reigns to stamp his own authority. Agar is little more than Sinfield's lacky.if that is keeping the seat warm until the end of the season for someone else and is enough to get us the wins to steer clear of the bottom then fine but if it is the plan to continue in the same vein for 2020 then expect more of the same next season.
There are coaches out there; the leeds job is still a big one.but it may mean KS will have to butt out enough to let them do the job.

How is it kind of working?
We are next to bottom of SL, and maybe tonight we will be rock bottom.
Agar is not the long term future for a resurgent Leeds Rhinos.

| With all the player movement going on and disruption to the squad for this season and next, perhaps it is understandable that the club want Agar to provide some stability off-field.
They have clearly been burnt by Furner - probably for a combination of on-field performance and off-field cultural issues - and will think twice before bringing in further unknowns. This is why, IMO, of all the targets mentioned they prefer Powell, because he has a past connection with GH, KS and the club and is a known quantity.
From the outside it is fine for us as fans to list coaches who we think would go well, but with the best will in the world we don't know that they would be a good fit for Leeds. For every Maguire and Holbrook it seems there is the potential to get a Furner or an Ian Millward (Wigan version). For this reason you can understand why they might not want to take huge risks on big name coaches who might upset the apple cart.
None of this means I'm overjoyed at a longer-term appointment for Agar, but rather my attempt to understand the situation the club is in.

He's not the long term future, that I would fully agree with.
But is he the right man for the problems we had to sort first? I would say he possibly might be.
