The basis of my question is whether a player signs a contract to play for Leeds In any league or are the contracts Super League related?

That does bring up an interesting question. Do the people running the club fell they've accomplished all they want or need to? Do they care enough after doing and winning so much? Was the treble the last objective?

I would hope and expect that the fear of this is driving the current planning. Hopefully, not rushing anyone back who is 50/50 and trying to build through the last 6 games post Catalan at home to get some wins and enter the middle 8's in much better form. 1 or 2 signings even if just to year end may also help.

i think that there is certainly some sense to that. Id be very surprised if all the big names we are missing right now would still be missing if we were in the last two months of the season going for a treble again.

Looking at those fixtures they are relatively kind. I hope that the recent tonkings are the team saving themselves for the more winnable games a la wakey last season.

I'm not that optimistic though

I opined weeks ago that Leeds required 20 points just to scrape into the Top 8 and looking at the current SL ladder, that remains the case.

So that'll be only 7 wins out of the last 7 required to avoid the Middle 8's then



The only relevance of an alleged "relatively kind" fixture list would be in terms of avoiding finishing bottom, and I don't fncy their chances of succeeding in that desperate quest either. They are utterly shiyte and that's not going to change overnight.

Leeds have history of winning the GF from a low finishing position - other teams will not want to give them that opportunity. Both Wigan and Hull know a win against Leeds at their ground takes out one of the perceived potential obstacles to them winning the GF - especially if Leeds were to get all their players back.

That particular ship of concern sailed away about 10 rounds ago. I doubt any SL club has perceived Leeds as an obstacle of any sort since, apart from being small and irrelevant speed bumps on the way to the tryline.

You are probably correct - still if I were Hull or Wigan I would want to flatten out even the smallest hump.

Leeds wouldn't qualify for the Top 4 even if they won their remaining 7 fixtures, scraped into the Top 8, and then won all 7 fixtures in the Super 8's. That would place them on 17 wins, 13 losses and 34 points which wouldn't be enough.

There's nothing worthwhile at Leeds left to flatten. They are an irrelevance to the Top SL clubs.

I can't see a win until the middle 8s we look a million miles off even competing with another SL side. We look like a championship side and a pretty poor one at that and my fear is that we wont get through the middle 8s and even get to contest the million pound game
