Regarding Lee Smith, as i posted last year regarding his departure from the club, and that he wished to be closer to his girlfriend, who had a contract in the musical Hairspray, in London, hence his decision to choose Wasps as his new club

rumour has it that this musical has ended early, and that she is also moving back home earlier than was originally intended

Friends of his at Drighlington ARLFC reckon that he definately wants to return to the club should a deal be available to him from the Rhinos

It isnt us paying his wage anyway so whats the harm as it doesnt count on the cap does it?

I can't see why it wouldnt be possible to work something with Smith where he signs a 9 month contract for basically pennies then end of the season when Buderus goes and free's up some cap space we can look at re-doing Smith's contract.

Of course, Senior may also retire or not be offered a new deal giving us centre options of Watkins, Delaney and Smith (assuming the above happens with Smith signing for us).

Whatever happens Buderus wont be with us next season which gives us some space to play with.

Im sure i read an article a few weeks ago about Lauitiiti not ruling out the option of returning home to New Zealand/Australia?

My preference given out current situation would be to alloe buderus to return to newcastle as he seems to want that, we are more than covered in the hooker position with young mcshane, overall the benefit to the side would be where we need it most in threequarters.

I would thank me buderus and let him go home early this releasing some cap money, becasue if we miss Lee now that will be that

Ali has stated his desire to return home, but that could have been a ploy for a urgency on a contract renewal. Buderus is almost certain to return home with the Knights expressing a desire for him.

I don't get this.

I thought Smith had already left Wasps and signed for Leeds last week.

I was told it was nailed on so just assumed it had happened.

Some posters aren't as reliable as you think.

Say if Leeds sign Smith for the rest of this season. He will play wing to cover Scottys injury. Then comes a point where Scotty is fit and healthy, Senior, Delaney, Smith and Hall are all in good shape and playing well. Would be harsh to drop anyone as it was Smith who walked out on the team. May disrupt team morale.

Delaney to second Row?

Putting salary cap issues to one side. Where would Smith play this season if we signed him?
If we do get everyone fit and back in form later in the season where would he play.
We have seen little of a fit Delaney, but the bit i have seen he looks a better centre than Smith. That would mean him displacing either Hall,Webb or Donald.
That said i hope he returns. He has plenty of years still in front of him.

Smith on the wing until Donald is back, Senior into Second Row, Smith onto the wing? Donald too leave at the end of the season, Senior to add another year, Senior back into centre, Smith on the wing?

The wrong term to use, but he did leave the team to pursue a bigger bank balance. Id be pretty cheesed off if I was Hall or Donald and Smith waltzes back in and takes my spot.
