Gib is v cheap for the booze and fags , the apes are worth a visit, cracking views from the top of the rock. The Rock hotel is a nice place for a bite to eat in the aforementioned old stylee - lots of nice places up and down the costa if you are mobile / driving - estepona - nerja - banus - marbella

Our service contract with a large supermarket covers an outlet of theirs in Gibralter, I'm ninth in the queue of engineers waiting to go when the call comes in.

My friend is an auto electrician and was laid off by the firm he had been with since school and was a bit down about it, he went for a job interview and was offered it straight away only to be told that one of the contracts was rewiring fire engines in Barbados!!!, hes been 4/5 times for 6 weeks at a time since hes been with them, hes doesn't seem cut up about his old job neither.

Just been backpacking around Turkey (for the second time) it's a superb country. This time did the western part on the coast and a bit inland.

Depends really, when we went IN it was on full lockdown mode, passports, frisking, bag checking the works. When we were on our way OUT, when you have to walk through passport control to your coach there was just one spaniard copper dozing away at his desk.

The irish family behind me nearly came in their pants as they were absolutley loaded down with contraband fags, booze and rolling baccy and pedro was dutifully snoozing away, missing catching them with their wares.

We have either the same mate or they work together.

Yeah. Passed by there on the bus a couple of years ago. It's a fairly small town on the hillside on the southern coast. It's grown a bit in recent years as more holiday homes have been built. Lots of Brits spend the summer there but it's not a resort town at all. Mainly it's got tourists who've bought homes. Quite a few homes are partially built which doesn't do a great deal for the beauty of the place but that's the same on a lot of Turkish coast.

There are some great places to visit nearby. I spent part of my honeymoon in Kas which is a short drive along the coast. Another fishing town it's worth a visit. It's very picturesque. It's also got a few small tour firms there too that do trips to Patara, Xanthos and other siights. These places are worth a visit. There's a bit hotel in Kas on the hillside overlooking the harbour that does proper Turkish baths, I certainly recommend that, you come out clean that's for sure!

I found the people in this part of the world as teh friendliest I'd met. If there's a downside it's that it gets really really hot in July and August so take care in the sun.
