Kirmond and Aiton are heading to Leeds aren't they? In exchange for Moore, Clarkson, Kirke plus cash. A pillow-talk done deal?

| I'll make no secret of the fact that I am a fan of Burrow. McGuire has given great service but he and Sinfield lack any real pace and it should be one of those two that eventually make way for Sutcliffe and or Ward, before Burrow does.
Burrow has retained his place and remains capable of providing that x-factor even in games we're being dominated (see last Saturday)and even in games where we're not playing well. He also has the dummy half versatility.
Add in Sifnield's captaincy, goal kicking and ability to cover 9 and it does, sadly, leave McGuire the odd man out. That said, and whisper it quietly, but I think Sinfield has had a pretty poor season and, like McGuire, father time looks like he may be catching up.
I doubt the coach sees it that wa though.

That would bring back some memories of another multiple Leeds - Wakefield swap-shop deal from 1987 or thereabouts. Throw in another makeweight from this end and it'd be a carbon copy.

| Would be disappointed to lose Clarkson and I think Kirmond is getting a little over-rated, he has somehow gone from a hardworking 2nd rower to the second coming of Gordon Tallis on the back of a couple of good seasons in a mid-table side. Decent player but nowhere near the game-changer he is being made out to be.
Also when he was Clarksons age, he was far behind where Clarkson is now.
On moving Mcguire on, lets be honest Sutcliffe is very very young for a half back and he is our half-back for the next 15 years, not the next 3. He shouldn’t be playing more than 15-20 games next year and we shouldn’t be looking to put him in for 80 mins in all of those games. He covers Mcguire next year, shares the spot with him the year after, and takes the starters job in the season he turns 21 with 40-50 apps behind him. I would much rather he gets another year focussing on his skills than pushing him into a first team role which demands he spend more time building his fitness so he can cope at SL level.

Leeds got Gary Spencer and John Lyons? from Wakey in exchange for Mark Conway, Phil Fox, Andy Mason and one of the Rayne twins.
The other makeweight? McShane.

I've said before that there aren't many top-class half-backs who can continue to operate at a reasonable level beyond 32, and sometimes quite a bit earlier. Darren Lockyer is an exception to this but Andrew Johns, Stacey Jones, Brad Fittler, Sean Long, Iestyn Harris were all finished or massively reduced by that age. A generation back and Edwards, Gregory, Schofield, Daley, Lewis, Sterling were too.

Keith Rayne, I think.
Unless Danny Kirmond is actually a three-toed sloth with a bucket attached to its body then the deal is not comparable. The form of Gary Spencer pushing Andrew Ettingshausen out to the wing is still one of the all-time amazing Leeds decisions.

When ET came over (second stint) he wasn't fit at first. Probably shouldn't have even played on the wing to start with. His display in the Yorkshire Cup Final was poor.
However, once fit, there was no doubt who would play.
Spencer was a great full back but, sadly, the Paul Wellens of his day, perhaps slower. Still in great shape and could probably play now.

Spencer did have all the attributes to be a great full back, except one. To be fair, like Wellens it shows how good he was at other aspects of play that he could forge out a career in that position when he was that slow. But. boy, was he slow even in an era when Ian Wilkinson and Paul Gill played 1. No fancy Billy Slaters in them days.

| I wouldn't move Mags on just yet but i personaly would look to start next year with Sutcliffe(6) Burrow(7) Sinfield(9) and Ward(13) with Mags on the bench.
I'd also like to see Kylie used only as a bench/rotation option unless we sign a power-house prop ,Kirke and Moore moved but wouldn't be surprised to see Mcshane and Clarkson depart also.

Kirke is not going anywhere as much as you want him out. Signed a new deal earlier in the season after turning down moves elsewhere.
Letting clarkson go would be a mistake, mcshane not so much he's just not good enough especially defensively.

If i was Moore i would want to get to a team where i was playing week in week out, as a 32 year old not too long left, he's way down the pecking order for us and i can never see him forcing his way into being a regular fixture in the team now.
I think it would be best for both partys and would rather see a young lad given his token gesture bit part minutes.

Depends what we wants in the winter of his career.
Least he hasn't gone AWOL in Leeds colours.

Yes, his attitude towards his role has been commendable. He rarely features in big games and if we have a fully fit squad he misses out,but maybe he is happy with his lot at Leeds and if so fair enough.

I'm afraid thats me as well. Distance away from the heartlands and an inability to get to many live games at HQ probably havent helped but the game has slowly become more and more tinpot.
The future for RL looks pretty bleak. I still expect there will be a sport around in 20 years but I would guess it will be semi professional at best as any player with real talent will head for the riches and exposure of the NRL. Clubs like leeds whilst self sustaining at present will suffer from a deterioration in clubs around them as they go to the wall. Added to this the RFL will continue to administer the sport like the rank amateurs they are, coming up with increasingly crackpot ideas to change the structure of the leagues and the game itself liek the mystifying league structure they are about to introduce or the laughable club call

Despite that I think it would be wrong to write off his future at Leeds. When fit he creates space for our threequarters that they dont always receive when he's missing. I would agree that he appears to be more injury prone than Sinfield and burrow and he may finish earlier than those two but I hope he still has a few years yet.'"
From what I have seen of him prior to the injury he has definitely lost his speed. However, he makes up for that with experience
Burrow has been excellent in recent matches

I have read Delaney commenting on Moore at home saying he (Moore) spends a lot of time recording and watching RL games over and over again.Perhaps he is going to go into coaching in the near future?

| Regarding Sinfield/Burrow/McGuire.....
I wonder which Leeds players (if any) end their international careers after the WC. I think this has probably been Sinfield's poorest year for some time and when you look at the former England captain (who was struggling prior to his international retirement) being joint favourite for MOS then perhaps focusing solely on club careers is the future for Sinfield, JJB, McGuire & Burrow. None will be around for another WC so stepping away after this year makes sense and they might enjoy the same kind of boost as Peacock has enjoyed in 2013 in their club careers.

I think it will be the end for Sinfield and JJB after this WC both approaching 32/33 now.Widdop should be the 6 we build the team around going forward.Mcguire probably wont be selected this time and its clear he is on the slide. Its debatable if he was ever good enough at that level and he certainly isn't now. It's hard to see him featuring again unless we have a serious injury crisis at half back.Burrow could maybe carry on for a couple more years as a squad player to be used as a wild card off the bench but thats for others to decide.
Not sure if any will formaly retire, but realisticaly it should be taken out of their hands as we should be building an England team for the future again.Like you say,It that should enable us to squeeze a couple more decent years out of these lads before they call it a day so not a bad thing from a Leeds fan's perspective.
