It's like we took a time machine back to 2013/14 tonight. Very conservative in attack, very down the middle limit the offloads. We very much played to the situation of 'threat of relegation' and not the style we played and succeeded in last year. Understandable but didn't help us. We gifted them tries and field position, positive we came up with a number good goalline stops which wasn't there earlier in the year. We gifted Fev their try last week, if stop giving gifts then teams don't look like scoring enough past us.

Agreed, I expected us to click up the gears in the second half but instead through a few switch offs we allowed HKR back in the game. Some good defines at times, but the tries we ended up conceding were particularly soft.
Thank goodness we brought in Segyaro, whether he stays or not you have to stay it was a good move.

Having said that, if Benthem gives Ryan Halls try then we win comfortably, not sure how he came up with a forward pass as it looked pretty flat and he was in no position to overturn the try. He was terrible in general tonight, allowed both teams to lie on and made for a very dull game.

The pitch had no bearing on our performance, but bloody hell it looked a right mess at the end. To the naked eye it looked great before kickoff, from the very first tackle it started cutting up badly.

I actually felt sorry Ryan Goulding & his team they were obviously put under pressure to get the new turf down but not given the time for it to bed in.

It's the fastest complete re-lay of that kind of pitch in a stadium environment, apparently.

Could have done with just asking for a four week block in the regular season of away games and taking the time to do it properly.

Likewise I sympathised with the ground staff and wouldn't put it on them at all. Seemed to be too big a realistic ask to get it done in that time.
