yes but those were quantifiable complaints about a player who had been found guilty of foul play.

The same level of complaint levelled at bailey bears no scrutiny given his impeccible diciplinary record, which is the point.

Since 7/3/08 (seems to be the furthest back the search lets you go with Bailey), he's visited the RFL disciplinary 16 times compared to Pryce's 7.

Not bad considering Pryce probably plays double the minutes.

Was that 16 times visited, or 16 times reviewed? Remember the Tuesday night is the visiting.

Also of those visits how many games has Bailey been banned for? How many has Pryce been banned for? That is surely what is more relevant.

Edit to say, by the way it is 10 times for Pryce not 7.

And what bans has Bailey received compared to Pryce?

And how many of Ryan's visits was he found guilty or charged??

The Boulevard was always a thoroughly intimidating and unpleasant ground to visit anyway. The only one that I wouldn't wear club colours to.

Wigan fans used to say the same about Newton until he finally copped a long ban. Didn't stop him being a dirty b*stard (not that Bailey is even in the same league).



Not since Bailey's first recorded visit it isn't.

3 cautions out of those 16 reviews, with no visits to the disciplinary. Looked myself. Kind of backs up the thoughts that silly reputation is preceding him rather than actions. Much like the way the referees seem to act also.

How is that last sentence relevant? surely it's about how many times reviewed. You can not just match up the starting dates. Just because Bailey did nothing viewed wrongley until after the first time Pryce was in the same position.

I have no idea how the RFL database works, so wanted a similar timescale.

Anyway, my past comments on here have been about Bailey's work rate and effectiveness - not that he is a "thug". I've also previously commented that he seems to be having a cracking season and upped his game.

I just get bored of the race card being played with him - there are plenty of white players who get criticisised for their performances in SL.

For all his offences, name me one incident in his whole career that you think Bailey should have been banned for.

It was a flippant comparison with Pryce, who is also disliked for reasons other than his race but also gets called "work shy", "thug", "animal" etc - which according to some appear only to be used by racists to describe black players.

There are plenty of work shy, thuggish white players, and they get described as such.

Anyway, I guess it's just a wind up anyway, since a lot of the posters involved clearly know better.

Sometimes TVOCs stats are invaluable.

Other times they're meaningless.

I'll be the judge of when those instances occur.

Not particularly picking on you but that comment does seem to sum up the head in the sand attitude this thread displays.

I went to great lengths to stress that while there is a marked difference between the way Bailey (and Pryce in my opinion) are lambasted when compared to white players with worse records this is not because of overt conscious racism. I also stressed that even sub-conscious racism won't feature for alot of people.

Nor did I suggest that racism was commonly seen/heard on the terraces (though I've heard racist chanting from Leeds, Warrington, Hull, Leigh, Castleford and Wakefield fans in the last few years).

And for the record nor am I suggesting anyone has posted criticism with the deliberate aim of having a go a them uppity darkies.

Its a subconscious action by some to see black players in a certain way and to use certain terms to deride them, the fact that some of us are able to understand the distnction between that and conscious racism or racist chanting, however, does seem to back up your final six words.

Since I've never had the pleasure of standing in the South Stand I don't recall the baiting of Vigo.
I did, however, express my disgust at a spectator in the old Paddock making racist comments.
So no I didn't & still don't have any qualms of conscience re Headingley.
