| Quote ="Superted"Interesting you should say that - as having known both players well from well before that incident, I have the complete opposite impression. Both players and their families have expressed nothing but gratitude and praise for the way Leeds supported them during and after that whole eopisode.
And for one of them, that support continued for over a decade, despite many other incidents along the way.'"
That can't be true as Sal tells us that Walker is full of resentment that the club didn't get Kavanagh QC to defend him.

| The difference in the way Warrington have handled Sandow with the way the malevolent, threatening, revengeful and litigious Leeds have handled Segeyaro is stark.
Warrington, although disappointed, have moved on quickly and immediately got around to seeking a replacement. Leeds OTOH have moaned, groaned, spat the dummy, threatened, sanctioned and done sweet FA about a replacement apart from announce a Plan B, whatever that is.

Even Kavanagh QC might have struggled to defend an assault captured in full on CCTV. Which the other one wasn't, meaning that the identities of some of the alleged perpetrators could not be established beyond reasonable doubt.

as for Woodgate/bowyer, there was no cctv evidence and frankly little other evidence either.
the two aren't comparable

Quote ="illy"Recent has everything to do with it when you state " Currently by the CEO and the Coach" and the current coach was no where near Leeds back in 2001.
On your new list of players:
Calderwood left for more money and to play full back ( he Can't)
Danny Ward Several issues and warnings for behavior and drink driving
Paul Sterling Treated badly by the coach of the time Dean Lance.... Dean Lance SACKED by the CEO
Ben Cross Was a flop and did not get into the team, asked for a release which was granted
Lee Jackson Left in 2000 with 12 months contract remaining to return to Hull on a two year deal again long before BM was coach
Darrell Griffin Could not get in team and sent to Salford on loan, should not have done the Dirty on Saints after agreeing a verbal deal with them.
Jamie Thackray Another player who did not make the grade and shipped out to Doncaster and Hull
So which of these players have suffered from "malevolent, hostile, litigious, actions by GH / BM.
Criticism of the club is / can be justified at times however your constant whine is boring and yes a discussion board so other peoples views also count.'"

Warrington's focus has been on the positive contributions Sandow made at the club whilst understanding the personal challenges and reasons why he's not returning to the club. They've been proactive and moved on.
Leeds focus has been spiteful, with little acknowledgement since of the positive contributions Segeyaro made at the club last season. There's been little attempt at reaching an understanding. The club have been reactive, they've not yet moved on and are threatening legal action instead.

Would Smith saying this count as all positive
“In terms of off-field, there will be a few less grey hairs around the place, that’s for sure,” Smith told TotalRL.
“He was OK for most of it, and at sometimes he was a pain in the proverbial. He was a fair mix, he was certainly a character, as everyone had worked out.
“He brightened us up at different stages and was exciting to watch for a while, but he became a bit unreliable. For him to ring, well not ring, to inform the club, none of it is surprising to us."
-----------------------
Also I don't hear anything about Sandow doing it because he's trying to join another team (isn't he trying to start a boxing career?), if he was Wire might feel quite differently.

| I don't see where Leeds have been particularly worse or better than any other club with regard to player treatment. Maybe we haven't always recruited well and sometimes had to deal with the consequences of players who don't understand professionalism.
For me Segeyaro was a poor signing from word go. The mistake was (deliberately IMO) not seeing the obvious, that he'd go home and not want to come back. After that mistake it's hard to see what the club can do that doesn't look bad in some way.

| [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/38015298Australian half-back Chris Sandow's exit from Warrington was not a shock, says Wolves head coach Tony Smith. "The timing of it wasn't great, but Chris is erratic like he is on the field," Smith said. "I wasn't overly shocked. The timing and the method of informing us was poor, but aside from that there were no grand shocks." And, asked if he had any regrets about signing the player, Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside: "No, he did some terrific stuff along the way and he contributed. "We knew what we were getting into and he didn't cause any major hassles off the field. He showed at times how outstanding he can be."[/url
Moving on in a sensible and proactive way as opposed to spitting the dummy, getting all litigious, malevolent and egotistically precious, despite knowing all the risks from Day 1...
[url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/38015298Former Huddersfield, Leeds and Great Britain coach Smith said the club are already looking at potential replacements for next season. "We've had plenty of contact from a lot of keen and interested people and so we'll be in the market; we've got some money to play with," he added.[/url

I think he was an essential temporary signing last season in order to stave off the threat of relegation for 23 rounds in 2017.
I agree that beyond that temporary shift of his last season, it made no sense whatsoever to try and extend his stay at Leeds beyond 2016. He never wanted to return. Most fans sensed that, and I'd be surprised if club management didn't also share the same view.
Poor management all round IMO and lots of faux outrage on display after the inevitable announcement that Segeyaro wasn't returning to the club.

| [url=http://www.insidesport.com.au/league/news/nrl-clubs-circling-sandow-443735At least three NRL clubs are eyeing Chris Sandow who has expressed a desire to return to the Australian top-flight in 2017. The 27-year-old is on the market after walking out on the final year of his contract with Super League club Warrington. St George Illawarra, Melbourne and Canterbury are all believed to be interested in the former Parramatta playmaker. Sandow confirmed his manager was investigating all options. “I am not worried about it,” Sandow told Sky Sports Radio. “I have got a good manager and he’s been working on that, I am leaving it up to him. “I am going to wait and see and let you guys wait on that I think.“Fingers crossed, that’s all I can say.”[/url
That's alright then.
Good to see Warrington moving on.

| The massive difference between the Sandow & Segayaro positions is that Warrington clearly wanted rid whereas Leeds did not.
Ergo Warrington did not mind him walking away from his contract since that would save them having to pay off him off.

Yes. I did mean the extended 2 year deal rather than the guest appearance at the end of the season, which I agree was much needed.

| In GH's position if he decided at the end of Segeyaro's stay to NOT extend the deal because of concerns over him staying AND THEN Segeyaro returns to Aus, Barba doesn't get in trouble & Cronulla didn't have the space to sign him and Segeyaro remains a free agent by the time the season kicks off then the exact same posters who are criticsing GH for signing him would be ripping him for letting him go.

The thing with this "inevitable" that people keep saying is this.....
Firstly, how many of the 16 NRL teams would actually want him? Most are happily sorted in the hooking position and he obviously wasn't going to return to Penrith. Realistically probably only a couple of teams were genuinely interested in him pre taking up the Leeds option.
Of those few teams presumably they didn't have the squad or cap space to fit him in. The only way that changes is if they have to release somebody in the off season. Not only did that happen but it just so happened to be at the club that was arguably the one most interested in him previously and furthermore the player they had to release is able to come back by Round 12 so they don't even have to go out and find a replacement for that particular position.

Not everyone is trolling.
For others, this was hardly a straightforward story going process. Player has return to NRL option up until absolute last minute before "committing" to Leeds for next two seasons. I've hired a fair few people over the years and one of the key criteria is "will this person follow through and actually turn up for work".
Personally I would have had no problems if we had said, no to signing him based on a belief he wouldn't commit. The problem is the club can't help but bulls**t and spin instinctively now. Pandering to a few who, you rightly say, freak out if everything isn't perfect has cost the club dearly in credibility.
