I don't think he thought he had the pace to outrun Broughton coming across, so veered right expecting either Smith or Donald to have backed up the break and be on his shoulder.

In the end he did have the pace and the angle to get in without needing support, which is a good job as it wasn't particularly quick getting there.

Compare that calmness under pressure to Broughton, who got himself in such a tangle when forced to make a decision that he fell over his own feet. Hardly the clinical finish of a SL centre.

When you see the replay from behind the action raynor is motoring across to cover and the ref is right in front of sinny's path to the sticks so his switch in direction whilst pretty much forced was imo to look for the support as Andy pointed out.

Turned Smith inside out though, brilliant play.

Mate, he had 3 on 1, the only option Smith had was to get turned round whilst backpedalling. It wasn't brilliant play at all, it was rubbish. He could have passed either way, and could have easily scored himself with abit more composure. Great fullback play from Smith, not committing himself, and therefore making Broughton's mind up for him.

That's my read on it too. Yeaman was completely unmarked on his left and he had Thorman on his inside (although cover was coming across from the Leeds left to shut that pass down). All he needed to do was stay calm, run straight at Smith to engage him then pass to his left and Yeaman would have had a walk in. In the end all he did was confuse himself and fall over trying to be too clever with his footwork.

Agree with Matt and Andy on this one but think it was poor play born out of lack of experience rather than just being poor play in itself.
