| Leeds lose Everybody complains we missed Jamie Thackray.
Leeds win Everybody well not everybody praises the team and forgets about Jamie Thackray missing out on selection.
Catch 22 situation really where Tony Smith earns his corn.

| It won't be mindgames.
Faasavalu will be a big miss, but Smith for Long is OK as far as I'm concerned. Long has been poor many many more times than he has been good this year, and Matty will give us the kicking game that would have led us to a win at the JJB last week.
Smith at 7, I still think we'll nick it. If DA goes with Wilkin at 7, we're screwed as we need a better kicker in general play.

Fas has been excellent most of the year, I'm not going to write him off as a liability after (admittedly average) performances against Leeds.
Our biggest strength is that of our bench, and Fas is a big factor in that.

| I wish people posting on this board would quote Spanish balls correctly.
"Cojones" not "Cahones".
Re the actual game I want to see the Rhinos win, I fear they won't but hope that if beaten it's fair & square and not due to poor officiating.
If we do lose then I believe that we will win at home next week against either Hull or Wigan. We should have beaten both of them in our most recent defeats.
So all in all a Leeds v Saints Grand Final. A cracking game in prospect with either team capable of winning, the essence surely of a true sporting occasion.

Will you still be saying this if it proves to be right? Maybe Smith just feels Kirke or Ablett is safer in terms of control and temprement in such a ig pressure game as this.

I think Kirke is a safe option whereas Ablett is just as likely to drop a clanger but has far less talent than Thackray!

I've not seen Ablett make the kind of game changing errors Thackray did in his last two appearances.

| Quote ="G1"Because Thackray cost us 3 points on the run in with vital handling errors. At the Wakey game everyone earned the right to retain their jersey.
Bailey shouldn't get near a 1st team jersey again this year.
I do not expect us to win this game by taking on Saints pack so a lack of front rowers aint no biggie.'" It is unfair to say Thackray cost us 3 points on the run in. Yes he lost the ball in the 1st set after we had scored on a couple of occasions but we should still have been able to defend the next set of 6. Senior knocked on from a tap restart with no defender near him which was a worse error than either of Thackray's but he has retained his place.
Time will tell if TS has made the correct decision and it would be hard to drop anyone after the Wakey game, but it is a harsh call if Thackray has been made scapegoat for a couple of individual errors IMO.

| Tomorrow I just can’t see a Saints win for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is their over rated full back who got in this years dream team in favour of Brent Webb who is obviously better than the pair. Brent Webb has a point to prove tomorrow and I feel that he’ll do it well.
We then have the declining star in Sean Long who I am glad is back tomorrow. It keeps that Mattie Smith out of the game and that's make me happy that Leeds don’t have to face another young spark like James Roby.
If Leeds had a choice to have Nick Fozzard or Kylie I think there made their decision ages ago. Fozzard is a good prop but he is only in that dream team because of the commentaries love of St Helens and their unsung players.
Leeds just have a better team all round and I can’t see St Helens beating us for years unless the rumours are true. Jamie Lyon is coming back to St Helens? I very doubt it. He has a point to prove down under and I think he will next season.
I say bring on the battle!

Matter of opinion, I don't agree, but fair enough.

This is where the mushrooms had clearly started to kick in. Long might be past his very best, but he's still a key link man for them, and I'm glad he's out, whereas you're glad he's back. How does that work?
If Leeds had a choice to have Nick Fozzard or Kylie I think there made their decision ages ago. Fozzard is a good prop but he is only in that dream team because of the commentaries love of St Helens and their unsung players.
Almost speechless. Fozzard leaving Leeds was the right decision at the time, but I'm sure we'd love to have him back now.

I would remind you that Saints topped the table, so I'm not sure how you intend to demonstrate Leeds' "better team all round." Good luck though.

For all Thackrays faults he certainly brings far more to the squad than Carl Ablett ever has or ever will.

So Ablett isn't as likely to drop a clanger then?
I remember seeing a few line breaks from Ablett recently. That's something he could bring isn't it?

| I simply believe Thackray brings a lot more to the game than Ablett has, Ablett is workmanlike but in fairness often drops off tackles.
It isn't that I think Ablett doesn't have plus points, its that I personally would choose Thackray over him every time.

Did is break not change the game against Hull KR at Headingley?
The argument should not be Thackray or Ablett but Thackray or Bailey?

I'd say Thackray or Kirke myself.
Personally I would have gone with Jamie. Yes he makes mistakes but he offers more in attack than Kirke, who despite being eager appears limited.
