I think this is fantastic news if true.

He seems to be over his problems now (otherwise he wouldn't be mentioned) and I’m sure he won’t ruin things a second time around if given a second chance at Rhinos. I've always rated him and I can see Tansey really kicking on if this comes to fruition.

Not his biggest fan, never really been impressed with him, but play and pay deal wouldn't be the end of the world

I'd agree if it was anything other than pay as you play, which is low-risk for the club and not particularly charitable.
I'm not sure exactly how this works, but presumably he'll have to show up well in training to be considered for a match..if not he doesn't get paid. Seems like a better deal for the club than the player.

Unless he's an unsettling influence on other players I don't see a problem. He must be aware that he's on shaky ground and if he doesn't come up to scratch I'm pretty sure that Brian Mac's exactly the sort of person to either straighten him out or get rid.

Would agree seems a better deal for Leeds than tansey. He still knocks around with alot of the team still. And if he gets the deal

Haven't we got Lee Smith for this? He can cover all the roles the OP mentioned except scrum half.

I hope not. He was never good enough, IMO.

But to have a retainer is not just pay per play. Not sure that he is a good team player. Often takes the personal glory option rather than the pass to unmarked team mate.

Never thought he was that great, started to look decent at Hull when played at full-back due to his pace. Would be strange for Leeds and McDermott to take on a player with such off-field problems. We also have players that can play acorss the backline already.

He is an opportunist, there are obvious positives and negatives to that type of player.

He can cover alot of bases and is a useful utility option.

As long as signing him doesn't harm our chances of landing a 'special' signing then I wouldn't have a problem with it. Never hurts to have competition for places, and I don't think many teams could have the quality of Smith and Tansey as pure reserves to boast.
