Yes, that must be highly satisfying and obviously a great credit to Mike Rush and all the work he does in that area.
Quote ="FearTheVee"But yes, I think you have definitely had an all british team before. Thinks Hudds may have done too? And Quins?'"
Leeds did do this (only not with that quantity of their own Academy produced players) in an away fixture at Wilderspool, May '99. Leeds won 28-10 and the team they fielded was:
Iestyn Harris
Leroy Rivett, Marvin Golden, Francis Cummins, Paul Sterling
Daryl Powell, Ryan Sheridan
Darren Fleary, Terry Newton, Barrie McDermott
Kevin Sinfield, Anthony Farrell, Andy Hay
Subs:
Marcus St Hilaire, Lee Jackson, Adrian Morley, David Wrench
IIRC Coach Murray had returned to Australia on compassionate grounds and the 1st grade assistant coach who took charge for the game was Damien McGrath born and bred in West Yorkshire.

That it is. One of the most pleasing things about our recent Grand Final successes, for me at least, was that, if memory serves, every Leeds point in the 2004, 2008 and 2009 Grand Finals was (if memory serves, which it may not... I recall Diskin, McGuire and Sinfield scoring the points in 2004, Smith, Hall, McGuire and Sinfield in 2008 and Diskin, Smith, Sinfield and Burrow in 2009) scored by Leeds academy products. How many SL champions can say that all their GF points have been scored by products of the academy? I think it's just us and possibly Wigan in 1998?

On a similar note.... That means that all 4 of our Harry Sunderland Trophy winners are Leeds academy products.
2004 - Diskin
2007 - Burrow
2008 - Smith
2009 - Sinfield
AND... our "recent" Lance Tood Trophy winners too...
1999 - Rivett
2005 - Sinfield
So basically, Since 1999, every major individual award that a Leeds player has won, has been won by an academy product.
You could even throw in the two Golden Boot awards for Hall (2009) & Calderwood (2005) too if you wanted.

It's an elite club with only Leeds and now St Helens as 'official' members.
Please don't attempt to cheapen the brand.

Correct. Where did Martin Gleeson start in this country (after he returned from being brought up in Australia), born in Wigan but did he come through the Huddersfield system?
Edit: Doesn't matter anyway as Mark Ridell kicked a goal during their win in the 2010 final.

In our 2007 win against Saints Webb, Lauitiiti and Donald all scored tried.
The other years i think you may have right that about the try scorers

| If you read carefully what El D actually said you wouldn't have felt the need to make that reply.
I know, I nearly made the same mistake myself earlier in the day but the statement is loose enough to interpret Champions as a unique entity each season rather than the collective of Championships.

Seriously though I'm sure it was full 17.

| Care to narrow it down at all, comp, opposition that kind of thing?
The chances sound a little far-fetched at a club who over the course of the season have fielded combinations of: Motu Tony, Michael Korkidas, Julien Rinaldi, Kevin Henderson, Ben Jeffries, Glenn Morrison, Semi Tadulala, Jeremy Smith and Ryan Tongia.
Well done to Wakefield if it happened but I'll wait for the evidence first if it's all the same to you.

Looks a pretty good team this, as did the Saints team on the weekend!!! Infact im sure Leeds Saints Wigan and Warringon could all field a decent all britsh team and still compete at good level in Super league....makes you wonder why we need overseas players when the talents already in our squads?

I know the year i specified wasn't mentioned in the original post but the comment "How many SL champions can say all their GF points have been scored by products of the academy" wasn't strictly true as we won the GF in 2007 and 3 non academy players scored.
Anyway, still a very impressive stat that 3 of our GF final wins had only academy scorers

Depends whether you read Champions in the singular ie that season's Champions or as a collective term covering one club but several Championships. The fact the extract of the post you quoted concluded with 'I think it's just us and possibly Wigan in 1998?' led me to apply the former interpretation.
It's not a biggie and I'm fairly sure not many Leeds fans could forget the 2007 GF nor who opened the Leeds try account or who lifted Leeds after his introduction from the bench or who scored one of the greatest SL GF tries that even had Coach Smith on his feet pumping the air with delight.
Quote ="RossRhino"Anyway, still a very impressive stat that 3 of our GF final wins had only academy scorers

Doesn't really matter beyond it being a bar-room talking point for nerds and their record books in games where all members of the team (whatever their origins) contributed.

I must admit I looked through the SL Regular Rounds earlier and didn't spot it.
Wakefield also played at Doncaster in the CC 4th Round (had 3 non Brits playing) before going out in Golden Point Extra Time at home to Castleford in the 5th Round with 4 non Brits.
Fair play to you if you find it.

I did fairly deliberately specify the years in the post.
Perhaps I could have worded it better. Point stands though.

It's hardly like it was done out of choice.

| Throughout the season wakey have fielded teams of 14/15/16 british players.
Struggling to find the full 17 but sure it was discussed on our board months ago.
Fielding so many young Uk players we have fallen lucky with the likes of Johnson, Moriano and Wildie/Davey.
Others have been ok but have struggled.. Vievers, Hyde, Gledhill.
We have been forced to playing so many this year. If we hadn't had all the disruption I doubt whether we would have seen so many young Uk lads out there. At times it was men vs boys but they put it in still.
