nah, rob burrows was an obvious case of how most teams choose to handle leuaki in super league, which is to constantly wind him up until he snaps, i dont blame the other teams for that, but non of them can moan if they get found out for it or if leauki does actually snap and chins some f@ker

What amazes me is that almost every week it seems that there is a thread on every board berating the Refs/decisions/inconsistencies. And it does seem to be getting worse with so much inconsistency, it seems a different rule is policed harshly from one week to the next. But yet nothing is done. Shame there is not somebody to judge the refs performances and act accordingley.

On the RFL site the reserve referee was a Mr. R. Cowling. So why didn't he referee the Cuptie? (Genuine Question)

Don't know the answer to your question (or the legitimacy within the rules, if any exist covering the officials to be used) but I can understand why the RFL did what they did given that another 1st grade full time official was already on site.

I take your point, I just didn't know if there was a rule about when the officially designated Reserve Referee was called up and when not. What would have happened if Mr. Ganson had pulled up lame in the game itself? The ruling which was put into operation this afternoon suggests we would have had to wait 15 minutes until Mr. Silverwood had got sorted out, changed and onto the field.

In the latter scenario I doubt the game would have been suspended for 15 minutes, I imagine we'd have seen the reserve referee called into action.

in your scenario, the most experienced tj would have reffed and rr would have run the line for him (rr would come on at in goal judge in a non televised game)

We got a couple of 50/50 calls too, in the first half.

But the second half really was a joke from Silverwood and his linesman. It must have been at least double figures, where the decisions made were wrong. Blatently wrong.

He appeared to be trying so hard in that first five minutes of the second half to assist Hull to a score. But that would be questioning his inegrity.

The ball steal decision was simply atrocious. Silverwood was on the far side of the ruck and there was no way he could have seen what happened from where he was. To award a penalty based on guesswork is a joke.

The ref was shocking yesterday. How Burrow went and Lauaki didn't I don't know. Ridiculous decisions regarding the knock on all game. Very poor showing from Mr Silverwood.
