| If that's what the bans for then it's a disgrace. The MRP have genuinely lost the plot.

| I honestly think the club should consider legal action against the RFL for the MRP. If a player’s salary were divided over a season worth of games, Leeds would literally be down tens of thousands from the MRP alone.
The problem is that the policy for a ban is any incident they happen to notice, not clear and obvious evidence of serious foul play. It makes me detest the way the sport is run, and feel nothing but anger towards the RFL, because ultimately it’s us as fans who it really effects.
They desperately need to sack Paul Cullen if he’s the driver in all this nonsense.

| I've never been so pessimistic about how effectively the sport's being run. The sport's profile is poor, the international game is poor and now the disciplinary side of the game is deteriorating.
Doesn't help having Paul Cullen as Chair of the MRP, someone who doesn't like Leeds and I for one couldn't trust to be impartial.
And then the whole organisation being run by Ralph Rimmer.
Dark days indeed.

| What makes ex-players especially suited to administrative roles like this? Putting Cullen in charge of the match review panel is like putting a convicted criminal in charge of the crown court. Sometimes our sport really is a laughing stock.

How long for the ‘John Hopoate’ from Corey Norman.

| I hope the disciplinary has a complete reboot before next season. Martin's 'offence' was the most trivial thing I can remember. The referee saw it clearly for what it was - a low-speed impact with zero intent and the only reason the Salford player fell over was because he wasn't looking. It was the sort of impact dummy runners get every game, but far less forceful.
I assume the aim of the bans is to show we're doing something about head injuries with respect to future litigation. This ignores the fact that ultimately the game itself is the problem (as with NFL and RU). Banning players like Martin will do nothing to stop any litigation.
Nobody should complain about shoulder charges being banned, high tackles leading to bans, or clamping down on late hits on kickers and players who have passed/kicked the ball. Those are real issues. Banning players for zero harm collisions that are just part of the game risks damaging the sport permanently.

Agree with all of this.
On another point, what must Thaler be thinking? As you say, he saw the incident clearly and for what is was. Yet the MRP have, in effect, deemed that he missed an incident of serious foul play (what else could it be, if it warranted a 2 match ban) from close quarters. So we can likely add referees to the clubs, players and fans that are less than impressed with the current state of affairs.

| Interestingly Thaler hasn't been dropped for this weekend so the referees department aren't concerned.
And his overall performance was very good - the only thing of note was the Sezer trip which was a split second thing.

| But he missed 3 red cards apparently. He should be dropped for that and miss the next game like our 3 players have to.

| I agree Thaler must be frustrated. He seems to me like the last semblance of decent refereeing in terms of flow and keeping hold of a game.
Having said that even the likes of hicks and child seem to have more grasp than some of the new group like Kendall.

Agree on Thaler. I like his refereeing style. The game isn't all about him, for a start.

| The panel is the far bigger problem imo. Refs have always missed stuff, occasionally dreamed up events that never happened and exercised a varying degree of control. But the panel doesn't assess events in a split second in the heat of the moment. Yet they're coming up with some awful interpretations right now, to a point of ridicule. This has to change.
