| Quote ="mattsrhinos1978"Hadnt heard of him before we announced him yday, watched 2 of his games for fiji against PNG and Samoa from 2019 ociana cup last night and got to say, i was impressed ,looked hard to handle on his hitups and hits hard on D, Looked decent size and very athletic. Made good yards after contact on his carrys.
Edit. Looking at his NRL stats, he looked to be really finding his feet at that level before lockdown, his last 3 games he averaged:
9.6 carrys, 100.6 meters, 10.4 meters per carry....The yards per carry stat is very good. That was against some decent packs in the Dragons, Panthers and Cowboys.
Small sample size i know, but got me feeling pretty optimistic about his signing'"
These stats and the fact he’s getting into the Fijian National side make him a really promising signing.
People are reading too much into his limited NRL appearances. Kylie Leuluai had only made a handful of NRL appearances and he went ok.
There are a couple of reasons why he might of only played 5 first team games. He was a union player who made a late switch to league, the fact he was still learning the game and probably rusty in a few areas will have counted against him in selection.
Also Manly wanted to sign him but his visa was taking too long and the deal fell through which left him stuck at the Warriors competing for a place in a position they have a lot of depth in.

If memory serves he hadn't played in a while so maybe they wanted to get his fitness up or train him up to use him as a prop. I remember sinfield saying they were impressed and they only sent him back because of covid. Who knows, maybe our priorities changed or he wanted too much money but again they used the term 'middle' rather than prop and whilst he would have undoubtedly been more expensive, with his size and experience you would imagine he'd make our 17 every week.

So he didn't want to be away from his family after round 5 until the end of the season, but he's coming to England presumably for pre season.

| It doesn't really matter what people say the term middle is just used to describe pack men or the forwards the middles are seen at the Front rower/ props the hookers and the loose forward/ lock. The second rowers/ back rowers aren't usually classed as 'middles' due to them playing out a bit wider next to the centres and half backs majority of the game. Obviously every player on the pitch ends up in different posttion/ places on pitch at times in a game. But saying the term middles is just describing part of the pack

| I never really thought Buderus hit the heights with us if im honest. Grothe only played 16 games for us and while he was very good Tony Currie was better for Leeds around that time.
All opinions though.

| 100% agree lot’s of Aussies, Kiwis etc have played for Leeds/Rhinos over the years and it’s a matter of personal choice and how old you are and how good your memory is. I saw in my option the best fullback ever to play for Leeds Ken Thornett and probably the best fullback to play for the Rhinos Brent Webb then what about ET and there plenty of other great players so to say Kylie was the best was just the best in one person’s opinion.

Yeah and in most peoples opinions he was. I genuinely never saw it in him at all. He was a great player one of the best 9s of all time and a super bloke but i can never remember him been that great for us.
What was his best game for us?

To me Buderus wasn't the most exciting to watch, but he was technically perfect in every aspect of the game. Particularly his tackling and passing techniques. His passes from DH always got the first receiver moving forward to run onto the ball. I think that took a bit for players to get used to, as so many received the ball as a flat pass.
As with many imports, his first year was slow (and injury hit), but after that he was immense!
