Sorry to rain on your parade, but it was Andy Hay that re-arranged Faz's busted nose that day.

Show me where I have ever defended Hock or Newton.
Oh, and by the way have a look at my posts regarding Bailey.

| 1970 - AH YES I REMEMBER IT WELL. CASTLEFORD V WIGAN.
18TH MINUTE, COLIN TYRER (WIGGIN) FIELDED A KICK IN HIS OWN HALF AND PASSED TO KEVIN O'LOUGHLIN IN SUPPORT. A SPLIT SECOND AFTER THE BALL HAD GONE, KEITH HEPWORTH (CASTLEFORD) CAME IN HIGH AND LATE. TYRER CRASHED TO THE FLOOR, BLOOD POURING FROM A FACIAL INJURY, AND WAS CARRIED OFF. TYRER HAD TO UNDERGO EXTENSIVE DENTAL WORK , BUT NOTHING WAS BROKEN. CLIFF HILL REPLACED TYRER, THUS BECOMING THE FIRST SUB IN A CHALLENGE CUP FINAL. HEPWORTH CLAIMED LATER THAT HE THOUGHT THAT TYRER WAS GOING TO KICK THE BALL AND SO WENT IN HIGH. (HMMM). THE FINAL SCORE WAS 7 - 2 TO CASTLEFORD. SEVERAL PENALTY KICKS BEING MISSED BY WIGAN (TYRER BEING THE FIRST CHOICE KICKER).

He was right though about Diskin.
IIRC, the original Farrell broken nose happened accidentally in an attempted tackle on Kevin Sinfield.
The worst tackle of the match though belonged to a Martin Aspinwall challenge on Danny McGuire who looked all over a scorer. That one went on report unlike the Diskin challenge.

I don't remember specific tackles from the 1970's, I didn't think I'd ever meet anyone quite that geeky, frankly, my brain needs to be reserved for more important things, like food, beer and suchlike.
However I do remember that in the 1970's we weren't quite so precious about our RL players, nor did we faint at the sight of blood on the pitch.
Its one of the things that I miss about RL.

I would have bet my house that it was Andy Hay, but as Tad said, he was at Widnes by then, he left Leeds in 2002 !
