| Pretty much the player on the pitch so far in this game.
Would be VERY reluctant to lose him when he's not had chance to show what he can do for us for quite some time.

| Talking about what might happen in two years is a bit pointless. What we have right now are two better full backs than Walker, and we need to focus on improving this year and bringing in some forwards to give us a shot at the top sides for next season. Longer term we should be looking at kids who are round and about first team already - Sinfield, Simpson, Edwards etc.
Walker shouldn't be OK with playing reserves or on loan - he's still young and ambitious and will want to play first grade every week. I genuinely wish him well but have never quite understood the hype.

If Zak stays I'm sure Jack will go. We can’t afford three full backs who will all be on a good wage. It would have been really nice to see him have a happy ending at Leeds, but sometimes it just doesn't play out that way. I hope he signs for Hull and goes on to have a successful and injury free career there. We can use the cap space to give us the oomph up front that we've been missing for the best part of decade now.

| Anyone think Newman could be a future fullback in a GI style move? I know he's not necessarily got the passing game, but his running game means we should have him on the ball as much as possible.
I also think the club see Handley as a possible fullback should we need him there. Maybe that explains the move for Olpherts. Not a move I'd want Ash to make personally.

Yes to Newman if he develops as a footballer. No to Handley.

Newman has plenty of time to improve and I think he will. In two years he should definitely be a more rounded player and might, might be a shout to replace Hardaker/ Myler at fullback. Don't forget fullback is generally the position where most teams play their best athlete because they get the ball in the hands in pspace more than in any other position. Time will tell.

| Newman's a pretty potent attacking force from centre, an increasing rarity in the modern game. Makes more sense to me if you leave him there and buy a top notch FB as needed.

| Craig Harrison confirmed we've got a clause in the loan deal to make the mover permanent, but we'd have to trigger it pretty quickly by the sounds of it.
Think Sutcliffe will be at Hull next season too going off what he said

Agree with this Shabba and he’s been almost too fearless for his own good at times, shades of Bryan Robson. I spoke to JP once about him and he described him as really brave. If JP says you are brave, then that will do for me.
The big IF and unknown is his long term fitness and potential to keep playing SL for many years. I remember it looked like Johnny Lomax would never get injury free but he’s now had a great career. Not saying he is that good.
We let Golding leave in large part because him and Walker were battling it out for the FB spot.
He wants to play at FB, not in the halves, he’d have to develop parts of his game but longer term there is potential and given we have Myler and Zak , you can’t keep 3.
It could be one that looks like a mistake in 2 years time. Whether it does not will probably depend on if he can avoid further injuries.

Good post, looked great when he first broke through, but had such bad luck with injuries, I know a bit has been spoek about his passing, but thought it looked good on Sunday, gave some good passes out, certainly an improvement on Shaul.
Next year we have also signed Tex Hoy from Newcastle Knights, who is a fullback or stand off, so if Walker stays we will have Walker, Hoy, Connor and Truman fighting for those pivot positions, big improvements on Reynolds and Gale.
If I was Hull, I'd see how he goes the next 3 or so games before making a decision.

| I see this as a mistake by Leeds. Shortsighted in the extreme. Hardaker is getting on, ratchford too- and without a Sinfield /burrow in the side is the wrong type of fullback anyway. walker is the future- those complaining he hasn’t developed further- well whose fault is that really????
If anyone can develop a slight young lad with skinny legs who already has the requisite skills into an excellent fullback- ermmmmm a top class slight full back with skinny legs Brett hodgson certainly can!
What made Leeds an excellent side was their exceptional homegrown talent, yes there was a particular golden era but regardless the club seems to be moving away from this and it can only be of detriment I feel.
Look at how doing that has worked out, your biggest names in tetevano and sezer have been absolute duds.
Golding meanwhile has been great at Huddersfield, he’s come off the bench and played at fullback, wing, centre, second row LF and hooker for us, it’s like having several extra players on the bench. Played with a smile on his face and brings energy and enthusiasm.

Golding is enthusiastic , but plays all over the place as he is not good enough to take any spot on a regular basis

| What’s with the flurry of Huddersfield fans in here?
Anyway to say we are moving away from youth is incorrect, we’ve got a decent crop of youngsters coming through.
Walker hasn’t developed as yet because he has always been injured, I hope he can kick on and fulfil his potential it might still be with us but it’s looking unlikely

Keep telling yourself that. I’d say he’s improved massively under Watson. You say he’s not good enough but he is good enough to be picked to play in one of those positions in a top three team most weeks by one of the best coaches in the competition
He’s played 14 rounds and has the highest stats for distance covered and intensity in the league so he’s doing something right.
With many teams going for 60-80 minute hookers it’s a waste putting another out and out hooker on the bench. Having golding on our bench means if we have an injury to any single player we are instantly covered. Either golding steps straight in 1-5 or 9, 11-13 or an injury in the halves tui switches there and golding goes to FB. The props are already covered anyway. That kind of value is immense in terms of continuity and doing what our team trains to do.

They're mostly here hoping to find people criticising Sezer I think. Unfortunately for them he's not really considered a "dud" at all so we can't scratch that bitter itch for them.
As for why Walker hasn't kicked on. Well we all know why and it's all to do with him barely playing for the past few years, nothing else.

For the sake of the game I've always wanted Huddersfield to do well and increase their sp fan base, so I'm glad you're having one of your good years. Thought you should have won the cup and I hope you can avoid exiting the play offs with a whimper. That said I do find your posts a teeny bit boastful, especially when there is so little of substance to boast of. Don't recall you banging the drum last year when Watson was struggling to scrape a win. Leeds have been in serious decline since 2016 but even during the spiral we've managed to put two pots on the sideboard. Nothing to brag about, so I won't.
