Still....he's 'earned' this big gigs.

| If that wasnt obstruction, i struggle to see the point of having an obstruction rule. He literally just stood in the defensive line and stopped Ablett moving across and Sandow went through the gap that created.
I wouldnt actually mind if that was the rule and we carried on with that, but we wont and at some point in the season we will see some fantastic and well worked attack ruled out for far less than that.

Talking about willy, Cox seems to be making good inroads.

| Well that was a good start wasn't it?
Completely disjointed in attack. For that much ball, two tries in attack is a poor return. Plenty of work to be done.

| Why didn't Lilley take the penalty????
Apart from the lack of a decent first choice kicker, I don't think we look in bad shape. I thought w did well to still be in the game considering we had our best half injured for most of the game, and Sutcliffe could barely walk for most of it. We looked flat in the first half with the ball, but I thought we defended well for most of the game, hopefully or injuries aren't too serious, and we can get some more cohesion in attack once Falloon is in the team.

| First half we was poor end of. Second half we looked more threatening with Lilley on, who has a bright future ahead of him. Overall the team looked like they were still in 'off season' mode, a few small sparks of individual moments but as a team still look tired and lacking fitness.
Warrington were nothing special, put a couple of good defensive sets in, looked fresher and quicker out of the blocks.
Btw Hardaker can't be our permanent goal kicker this season, with his attempts at goal it was no wonder we kept passing on earlier 2 point opportunities.

You were pretty quiet in 2015....the treble must've wounded you. Sinfield at SPOTY must've sent you over the edge.

| With the NZ game extending our season a few weeks and the flooding and the celebrations of winning the treble I was expecting a slow start to the season.
Whilst we're in a rock and a hard place with kicking when Hardaker and Sutcliffe are on, we should let Lilley kick goals when he does play, he's easily the best goal kicker.

| How DID Burrow not score?
Goalkicking.....hmmmm
(Leeds should have won, but let's not forget we had no Faloon .....and McGuire for most of the match. Having Burrow and Lilley on together - neither of which is going to help defensively - wasn't ideal)

| Burrow and Lilley were best two players. Forwards excellent, Sutcliffe was horrendous. Don't think Mcguire would have made difference as he was equally poor first half hour.

| More meters sideways than forwards in some sets...
To be expected, we just didn't put them away when we were on top. We blew numerous chances and seemed to choose the wrong options, but it'll be reet.

| Our defense held you out, simple as that. You got some points in the second half after we'd spent probably 30 of the first 40 defending, that Moon show and go was fantastic though, I don't know why defenses hold off, with him you just have to rail road him as soon as he gets it or you're screwed. I feel like things evened out at the end, our first try was obstruction and I'm sure one of yours came from the Hall knock on that was blamed on Gidley. Had you taken the penalty kicks early on in front of the posts you'd have edged it.

You're probably right. Great advert for the game.....Currie looked good and you have a half back partnership that will get better and better this season. Forwards evenly matched. Leeds for the GF and CC...you can have the LLS

| Watching the game lie Gidley seemed poor, to me, he's also one of the ugliest people I've ever seen. Sandow was hit and miss as well, but the kick was top draw for the Penny try.

Pity Hardaker's kicking was pretty poor would you not agree?
I thought Lilley was the Rhinos best player on the night - we weren't that far off and we came up against a pretty committed Wolves side who in Ben Currie had the player who made the difference on the night.
You can't play without halves and you need a solid goal kicker at this level which is something Hardaker has never shown any aptitude for why we continue when it clearly isn't working on Brian Mac knows

| Sutcliffe didn't look sharp enough before he was injured, neither did Watkins or Hardaker who dies with the ball too much. The forwards didn't dominate and the whole side struggled with Warrington's quick defence who came with a distinct tactic to slow down our PTB.
Having said that we should still have won had we kicked our goals which is a source of concern that I have previously expressed and unfortunately this weakness I believe will be repeated. Hardaker does not look a natural kicker and will need to improve dramatically to be more than just a 50%er.
On the plus side Lilley played very well and was involved in most of our best bits and IMO he should currently be a starter at halfback. I like the way he is prepared to take responsibility and I think he is also our best kicker and should be taking the goal kicks when he is on the field. Moon was once again our best and I thought Ferres worked hard and Galloway and Singleton went well too.

| First game of the season and were already into bizarre coaching decision territory
Why Lilly wasnt made kicker is beyond me especilly as he kicked a touchline conversion against NZ, whilst Sutcliffe won us a match from a similar position last year against Catalan, I understand that Hardaker needs time but if youve got a kick to level a game your best kicker HAS to take it!
Hopefully this is a blip and Hardaker is kicking them from everywhere in a couple of months but for now please let Lilly kick, also he should be playing 7 when hes on, burrow will be playing hooker most games anyway so dont understand why he was put in the halves

Poor is the answer, as was his all round play. But we didn't win because of poor half back play in the first half of the game. All that play and no danger. Lilley is the only half we have who can dictate play and move the team around, and we should have faith in him for an extended run.

| Random thoughts
We had enough ball and field position to win 2 games, but the lack of spark from the halfbacks was obvious for all to see, and stopped the match winning backs getting enough possession
Sutcliffe had a shocker, Mcguire was missed when he went off and Burrow was his usual self which isn't an organising playmaker. Lilley looked very good.
Surprised to see Wire come to slow the PTB so much, they were penalised heavily but on balance it worked
Seems the game came across well on TV, but in the ground I thought both teams were very scrappy with the ball, lots of mistakes in a typical opener
The first Wire try came from a strange penalty against Ferres, but proved I'm not going to understand what is and isn't obstruction for another season
Forwards went OK, I think they lacked some composure with the ball. No issue with mistakes per se but some of the attempted offloads were low percentage plays
Haven't watched the replay but didnt Hall have the ball clearly stolen in a 2 man tackle late on and a knock on was given? Was I seeing things on the big screen? They didn't appear to check it even though it was a scrum and a natural break in play?
Not convinced the late penalty for obstruction on Lilley was a penalty at all, but havent seen it again
No lack of effort from Leeds, and nothing to panic about after one game. We'll lose a few this year, we do every year.

| We got absolutely dry bummed on the penalty count, played poorly with ball in hand and yet still won. You will struggle this year. I think you all know your wonderful decade of fun is over. Sir kev or jp in that side and you win
