I'm sure there will be lots more info coming out about what will be inside the South stand .I wonder if the idea of a museum will be resurrected .Phil Holmes has just posted on FB that the foundation has donated 5k to Johns statue and he said an announcement is imminent

I understand the sentiment behind wishing to see a museum in the south stand but it would get much better exposure in my view if was to be located in the new joint stand, preferably co-located with the cricket museum.
The shared nature of the ground is what makes it really special.
By all means have an honours wall included in the new South Stand & any statue(s) should be placed on this side of the ground too.

Closest to the 20k mark in recent seasons was the 19,997 vs Saints in 2009 but that was the penultimate game of the season with both level on points with the winner almost certain to win the LLS.

Last year we got 18.3k vs Wigan and 18.5k vs Saints. Will be interesting to if we can break the 19k mark and push towards 20k this year for those games as surely we've sold more season tickets this year than last year considering the varying feel good factor now compared to 12 months ago and e entertaining rugby we're playing, could hinge on the form for both teams going into those games though.

A new ALL STANDING South Stand will do just fine. PLEASE, no seats in this stand. Whatever the North Standers might say, this is the heartbeat of the support on match days.

Arsenal's Emirates Stadium has murals around it of a couple of dozen of their most famous players. Instead of having a blank white exterior to the new South Stand why not put up a mural on the outside of certain players/images (Hall's fist pump as he wins the LLS, McGuire diving over in the '04 GF for example).

The have up some temporary Treble winners banners featuring Sinfield, Peacock and Leuluai so why not something more permanent along those lines. Would certainly add more colour and character to the ground rather than have some bland beige exterior such as the East Stand at Elland Road.

I'm amazed that people still think all-seater stadia don't generate atmosphere, given they are very much the rule rather than the exception these days.

I think what we are seeing now are just the first artist impressions and there will be more images while planning is being sought .I am sure when it's all completed there will be stuff both inside the stadium and out to remind people where they are

Whilst only first artist impressions I'd be surprised if the outside changed from those designs, a mostly blank outside with just a Rhinos and Carnegie crest stuck on the outside. The Carnegie Stand is exactly that, but that's fine as it has other uses so you want it to be smart/understated. The South Stand is for your fans only and ones who are clearly into atmosphere so doesn't have to be.

Look at the likes of Wigan and Hull's ground from the outside, just bland exteriors with the odd club crest here and there and no character on the outside.

Well one reason for the John Holmes statue came from his untimely death a few years ago and the club then decided as a tribute to commission a statue to the man inline with the new south stand ,but then everything was put on hold otherwise there would be a new south stand with a statue of John Holmes therefor all to see .surely your not going to decry a person who is dead and this de is ion was made long ago.any way now the John Holmes statue will come from voluntary donations

Someone at the planning dept has received a nice fat envelope from someone on the cricket side to push through plans for a bigger South Stand in order to appease the Rhinos for a reduced, redeveloped North Stand. Funny how Rhinos were knocked back on a smaller South Stand redevelopment a few years back eh ? The Ghost of '99 must be spinning in his grave

This is an absolutely f*****g appalling decision. The sleeve is sacrificing the traditions of this club, the wishes of Southstanders and the atmopshere of the best ground in rugby for a few extra bob. Disgraceful.

This will KILL the atmosphere. You need sound to be created in a tight space from which it can fan out - the back of the SS is *brilliant* for this. What we see every time we go away to an uncovered stand or one with a much higher roof is that it's really bloody difficult to get the atmosphere up because the amplification effect is smaller and people can't hear you.

If this gets built, you'll have the few of us at the back of the SS currently there trying to keep the atmosphere up, the usual kiddies down the front whose parents don't like them hearing 'naughty words' and the thermos-and-blanket brigade in the back who've been displaced from the Main Stand.

If GH is determined to do this then he needs to get a roof on the West Terrace pronto, f**k the away fans off to the Carnegie terrace and those of us who still want to ensure Headingley is the best home ground in rugby still can.

If those goes ahead it'll be a great loss to Leeds Rhinos, and a crying shame for rugby league as a whole.

Come on guys, the old southstand is great but times move on and you have to move with them.I bet many of the Saints,Wigan, Wire and Hull fans miss their old stadiums since moving into the new flat packs and shared football stadia, i know i loved going to all those grounds for the atmosphere back in the day.At least we get to stay where we are for years to come.

I'll definitely give it a go but doubt I'll bother doing the 190 miles for "home" games that I currently do if the fare on offer - and I include the match day atmosphere with this - is diminished. Much easier to take the TV option. But who knows, it may still easily surpass the plastic stadia days out.
