2 Cracking hits that need to be made legal imo I agree with our Coach they were "face on" and hit other forwards don't see the problem.
The late ones or those that a directly side on and high deserve sending offs and bans but what Singo did imo was put 2 classy big hits in but the powers that be now deem them illegal.

I agree with the theory but as you acknowledge them are deemed illegal so you've got to box clever. I don't want to see bans when very avoidable.

| The definition of the shoulder charge seems to have gone from "leading with the point of the shoulder" towards the Union definition of "not using the arms to hit and wrap" as the season has gone on.
The former can be dangerous (for ball carrier and tackler alike) the latter much less so. The balance needs redressing IMO.

| Late contact with the shoulder should be illegal - thought it already was before banning shoulder charges.
Contact with the shoulder to the head of the ball carrier should be illegal - thought it already was after Bailey's hit on Fa'asavalu got Graham all riled up.
However with the ball tucked under your arm, dip your shoulder into the defender and hey presto that's fair game.

SLIGHT favourites at best....any claims by Saints fans that we are big favourites won't be taken seriously by anyone, whether Leeds affiliated or not. Merely seen through as an attempt to modestly play down your chances......you win = fantastic unexpected victory, you lose = told you so.

I'm really looking forward to watching the game (one of the threats to us retaining the Challenge Cup will go out)
I think the team that kicks the ball better will go on to take the spoils. In previous years Sinfield has "done a job" on Saints. Their back three were dreadfully slow in returning the ball and Leeds trapped them pretty easily, plus Saints didn't have a good kicking game. However, it's quite a bit different this year with Lomax, Makinson and Swift working hard to bring the ball back, plus Walsh has a much better kicking game than Saints have had for quite a while.
The weather could be a big factor and at the moment it appears to be dry for the game but the pitch will be greasy.

Enjoy, I'll be having a few glasses of wine whilst watching and celebrating my mothers 92nd birthday with the family at our house.
See you next Friday.

I was gutted when Saints let Francis Meli go, he helped Leeds win many a game.
He probably still has nightmares about Lee Smith.

| We're winning the game in every department at moment just lacking that finishing touch. McGuire is having a stinker. Time to give sutcliffe the starting shirt. Keep this up in second half and they will run out of steam. Need to get a couple of earlier scores and the game is hours.

| THink the score in the end reflected the game. Despite some sloppy handling first half possibly our most complete performance this year

Quite a turnaround in second half. McGuire looked excellent, Sutcliffe looked well out of depth.

| McGuire's second half was the best he's played this year, after a very ropey first half. (First half he was playing mainly at stand-off with Sinfield hooker/acting half, second half we reverted to Burrow hooker and Sinfield/McGuire halves).
Sutcliffe made a mistake for Saints' second try but went ok other than that.
Ablett, Kylie, JP men of the match along with Hardaker and Hall.

| Still need to work on the execution towards the Watkins/Briscoe side a bit more, should've been better in the first half. Once McGuire (and Leeds) focused more towards the left we had a lot of joy, Ablett had a great game.
As for Sutcliffe, he's on the field but as of yet hasn't really developed a role in the side. As is often the case with young players they're plugging the gaps and filling the numbers, he'll gel in time whatever position that may be.
Speaking of which, Burrow went off. With Aiton out will we see R.Ward get a game or Sutcliffe start with Sinfield to 9 (he played quite a lot of the game there today anyway).
To be honest, if Saints didn't have Roby they'd have not even been in the fight and he wasn't even at his best but was still well ahead his teammates. Can understand Amor wasn't at his best with injuries but Walmsley didn't impress me and Masoe......no. Did Turner play???
..........................
I could picture the grins on here as Kirke ran through Amor on his first touch from the drop out.

Burrow has a suspected broken collar bone.
Worth thinking about BJB 1, Hardaker 6, Sinfield 9 until Aiton or Burrow are back?
