Quote ="rhinoms"I saw Kylie comeback to the touchline with his knee heavily strapped but not moving too well.
Keinhorst took his tries well and Minns looked solid and willing also i thought Singleton really ran hard and put himself about which to be fair the team did but defensively we looked weak imo.
Hardaker was very good Burrow looked better and more confident at 7 Kirke was very good ran hard and his cover tackle on Chase in the 1st half when he looked clear was great defending and he ran a great line for his try.
Some decent tries scored and to be fair the lads put the effort in but that Defence especially at the ruck needs sorting before we play the Giants in a coupel of weeks because Lunt will have a field day.'"

Just linking your thoughts to BM after match interview.....I have to same some respect points for him, he came close to saying that maybe he should have trusted Keinhorst earlier, but thats over with and I hope we keep producing the younger guys over this season

Chase was typical Chase, boom or bust. Some great moments and more silly moments (passes to touch, passes to nobody and knock ons). Tries to do far too much. Burrow was the best half back on the pitch (shock horror). We finally got some spark from the half back. No coincidence we slumped somewhat in the last 14 mins of the 1st half when he took McShane up and tied Burrow back up at dummy half. I thought Burrow was good but Hardaker was MOM for me.
Mimms answered the question we have all been asking without doing anything of real note. That question being, is a warm body from the Academy better than Vickery. A resounding yes.
The forwards were excellent and Bailey had a superb game. Kirke was even better but how refreshing was Singleton? A forward who runs onto the ball hard and with regularity.
I was pleasantly surprised by Keinhorst. Ran some very good lines and showed good feet. Good to see Hall get back to some form.
And Darryl Clark was superb. Cas' best player by some distance.
Whilst some parts weren't the highest quality it was an enjoyable game, a good dig by our youngsters and a decent crowd and atmosphere. Getting back towards what Cas games should be like. Powell seems to be doing a good job.

It was a shame that got a bit lost in the mix at half time. Also not too many of the players from that game there. Schoey has certainly been putting the pies away.

Last time I checked, both Chase and Sinfield are in the England squad, and likely to be the halfback pairing for the Exiles game, and going forward, the World Cup - so I really don't get the original point about McNamara's sanity.
Am I missing something?

During the week I was confident that McShane would start but also that he wouldn't play the full 80 which left the only possible solution of Sutcliffe replacing him with Burrow to 9. Would be interesting to see if he would try Hood (when fit) on the bench as a straight swap.
I was fairly confident too that Bailey would have a good game, he did last time at home vs Saints and usually goes ok at Headingley. It's when we're on our travels he can let himself down.
After tonights game what we know is what some of us tried telling the bed wetters during the week......our league position is fine, young players are now going to get a chance in a reasonable fixture list, they're doing just that so far and things are looking ok atm.

Indeed, and an international halfback pairing which must rank as one of the most despairing ever!

Who knows.? This is Sal we're talking about. Does he even know what his point is? I assumed he might be attempting to elicit a response from the Sinny-Is-God brigade in here. That's what he usually does when anyone has posted a few digs about his poster boy hero McGuire.

| The young lads stood up well tonight, all playing a vital role in getting us back to winning ways. Keinhorst scored 3 but Hall set up 2 of them taking the crossfield kick and offloading back inside to his centre. Minns scored after 4 and a half minutes of his debut and looked toget involved. Make a few mistakes here and there but didnt look too bad. Singleton is really impressing me. He runs the ball in 100mph every time and wins most of the contact. He is a star of the future. Sutcliffe was good also, coming on and playing 7 in the 2nd half. Made a nice break near the end and nearly scored only to get pulled down short.
My MoM was Zak Hardaker though. Looked back to his best and scored a great 60 m try where he ran across the line, showed the ball to a runner and went through a gap before rounding Tansey 20 m out continuing on to score under the posts. He set up a couple of breaks and always looked dangerous.
Hall, on the right tonight, looked back to his best too. Setting up two and at one point brought the ball back a good 30 m swatting off about 6 players in the process.
We looked weak defensively in patches but I think that was due to the injuries and the younger guys out there, all of whom got caught out at least once during the game. We lost Leuluai after 3 minutes too which made Peacock play his 1st stint of about 50 minutes. Thats not what you need when hes on his return.
At the end of the day though it's a win after 4 losses. We have a bit to build on but it gets us back in the race and in a few weeks time could be back in the top 3.
If what I have heard tonight about Bails is true, then I can see him having a very good end to the year before he departs for warmer climates. Only time will tell though.

| Serendipity is a major factor in team sports. Or as Blackadder once said "needs must when the Devil vomits on your eiderdown".
A 7 at 7, a 9 at 9 and some backs and forwards from the juniors getting a run out and some welcome experience.

Actually, I thought we looked better when McShane was at dummy half and when Hardaker played as a half. Burrow was livey but did nothing special. When he moved to 9 it coincided with Cas getting back into the game. I suppose ill have to give him the Keinhorst assist though as he made up for Sinfields poor choice in the 1st place

It was Tim Roby and i thought he missed a few calls for both teams especially JJb getting hit high before he even had the ball yet gave one against us and the dump tackle he gave against Keinhorst in the 2nd half was a poor call imo and JP + Achurch were lucky with a couple of high shots.
