Yes, we have been very fortunate in the last three Grand Finals.
We were very fortunate against Warrington. And also against Bradford. And exceptionally fortunate today against Wigan.
You know, the more games we play the more fortunate we become!

With the rule that is currently in place that is the risk you take when charging down. JP had to make sure Tomkins still had the ball, you run the risk. What actually is classed as late?

| How can a player get a warning from the referee and still persist at offending at the play of the ball and not get ten minutes?
Coley should have walked - Mounis did and got a one match ban too!
Senior could not have seen Tomkins when he was swinging his leg - too many players were holding him down.
What about when Ablett lost the ball, it went backwards and BENTham gave scrum down head and feed to the piemunchers?
The referee was terrible and in my opinion ruined what should have been a decent game. Well done to Peacock for doing what most of rugby league has wanted - smack Sam Tomkins! Tomkins also got up a bit gingerly when Hall hit into him when Hall was returning the ball.

If Wigan we're totally dominant in the 2nd half why didn't they score enough points to win the game?
Fact is they couldn't get past the Leeds defence. For that you could say Leeds deserved to win the game from their defensive effort....
If you knew anything about the game you would have noticed Peacocks 'high' tackle was just a grab - In my opinion, John Kears' opinion and Jonathan Davies' opinion.
As for the Senior kicking out in that tackle take your mind back to this years WCC (if you watched it) a Melbourne player kicked out in the tackle and injured Sinfields leg. Sinfield missed 55 mins of a World Club Challenge. He then missed 3 games after that. Leeds didn't even get a penalty for FFS. Compaired to our misfortune Wigan we're very lucky.

| Coley's challenge was far worse than Peacock's. Delaney is lucky he isn't very injured. The ref gave neither a team an advantage, some jelous supporters need to get over it.

| It would be interesting to get all the spear tackles together and compare the sendings off and the no action taken ones. I am at a loss as to what now constitues a dangerous throw. Poor old Mounis - had he played for Weeeeeeeeeeegan he would not have been either sent off OR had a match ban.

When Farrell committed to the tackle McGuire still had the ball, hence it was not a penalty,

True. For me it was worse than the Mounis one. Delaney didn't land well at all.

the first one was grab but he followed through with his right arm in a try scoring situation. ten minutes at least. and oh dear sinfield got kicked in the leg, joel was kicked in the face which required 8 stitches. but farrell colliding with mcguire in mid air required ten minutes. john kear was a disgrace today with his commentry. nothing to do with him not getting the job when gregory left. the fact he said its like watching paint dry after we d wakefield. hes a joke. the decision when sam got held up after it clearly came off smith to give leedss the ball was a disgrace. they checked the grounding and then pulled it back for a wigan touch. i really hop you win it as i have no ill feeling towards the leeds players buy you really got away with it today

| We've been here before with leeds, but in the 08 challenge cup final and also i remember chris ashton being purposly stamped on by lee smith in 06, never sighted, never even given a mention. I defiantley remember it happening though.
If you say senior was accidental, then surely coley's was accidental? and no further action should be taken?
At the end of the day, accidental or not, its still very dangerous play. A kick to the head while a player is stood up, or nearly. Is more serious than coleys average spear tackle.
Jamie Peacock, just had a lazy arm, it wasnt stiff. penalty sufficient imo.

| Correct decision by the ref, Senior kicked out like all players do to try and speed the play the ball up, he was just unlucky that he hit an opponents head, it is upto the rfl to change the laws, if they don't agree.
I do not agree with Coley's tackle bee accidental, he tipped him above the horizontal and drove his head/neck into the ground. You cannot risk a player breaking there neck because somebody cannot tackle correctly.

There have been quite a few binnings for the same offence this season! Farrells sits in amoungst them. It Was a binning because that's what the refs have been giving! I wouldn't give it. But to the letter of the law he had to go.
it's a bit of a soft side to the game but as much as I love seeing players getting hammered we have to offer some protection to blokes kicking the ball.

Can you please elaborate on what is the law?
If a player is in mid air then the laws of rugby league may penalise him for a late hot but the laws of physics and gravity will at least judge him to be innocent.
In context the Farrell sin bin was no way near as bad as the Peacock "accidental" reaction high shot on Tomkins.

| I cannot see that what Senior did was deliberate. But IMO it was reckless - to kick out that high, especially if (as I am sure he will say, probably truthfully) that he could not see who, if anyone, was there, must be at least as bad as a reckless high tackle? And people get red-carded for those. I think he was lucky to avoid a red card, IMHO. And I would have said that whoever the player was. But the official saw it differently, and he's the expert is he not?
I watched the match with the sound turned down, down at my mothers who has never really watched a game before. So I have no idea what the commentators were saying about it.

you were lucky it wasn't a ref with with balls or you would never have had 13 on the pitch. consistent dissent and laying on in the tackle.
also watch the game again. wigan sometimes had 3 dummy runners that all stopped right in the defensive line, which led to the ball carrier going through a gap caused by an obstruction

If it was accidental contact, which there is a lot of in rugby, then it shouldn't have even been a penalty.

| What Senior did was an accident. Everyone kicks out and as soon as he realised what had happened he stopped. A penalty was the correct decision and I don't think the RFL will take any further action.
Delaney does end up on his back, but that is not the point. The rules clearly state that you cannot do that to a player. And if it was an accident, why is he smirking immediately after it's happened? He will appear before the RFL, but anything could happen with them.
The Farrel incident deserved the ten. Sorry, but he should not have put himself in that position. Why was he flying in like that? You shouldn't be jumping into a tackle like that and he wasn't trying to charge the ball down, as he was to the side. Silly play. I don't think the RFL will take any further action - the ten will be sufficient.

Watch it again he makes no attempt to charge the ball down and jumps high into Mcguire whilst he's still in the air making the kick,it's illegal and automatic sin bin.
If he'd of charged him on the deck or even raised his arms towards the ball then fair enough in this case he didn't and jumped straight into the kicker which is viewed as cynical and 10 in the bin.
Whether high shots, spear tackles should be 10 in the bin are a completely different debate and the law states clearly about hitting kickers late.

| Farrell: no attempt to charge the ball down (his arms were by his side), his only possible intention could have been to clatter the kicker. If he's late, he can have no argument if he's penalised and given the force involved I don't think he can argue against being binned either.
Senior: no intent whatsoever, he clearly couldn't have known where Tomkin's head was ( therefore not comparable to a reckless high tackle warranting a red card, as an earlier post suggests). However his boot was very high, it was reckless and I couldn't really have argued if Bentham had binned him.
