Keith, you WERE right! Do players agree with referees just giving someone a ticking off for a dangerous spear tackle that has the potential of fatal results? Silverwood has now set a standard at play the balls and also how to plant an opponent in the ground head first. I would love to see in his next game as a referee, a player now turn round to Silverwood and say "You let Melbourne do that so why cant I!?"

Perhaps we should do the same as stains and request we dont get Silverwood ever again! Or the two muppets with the flags - I ask, how credable is the game when you have one of the chuckle brothers as an official????

Keith is entitled to his opinion, as we live in a free society he should be able to express it and as he is the most senior player in Super league ought to know what he is talking about! To say people who do not agree with your opinion ought to pack in watching RL shows arrogance not dissimilar to that of any dictatorship - i.e. anyone who does not share my opinion is wrong and therefore should be silenced!
Its time officials in our game were made to see their shortcomings, not by being treated disrespectfully on thee field, but at the same time not being protected by people who think they can do no wrong from any form of post match criticism.
I have been watching rugby league for over 40 years and have to say that in my opinion the standard of refereeing last night was one of two things - either incompetent or corrupt, and whichever of those it was if he had been found to be either in any other job (apart form politics) he would today be looking for a new occupation!

Keith may have had an opinion, and FWIW I agree with him, but that does not excuse he has gone against the rules. All players must abide by the Operational rules at all times, and it clearly states under section D1:

Criticism of Official
(i) No Person subject to these Operational Rules shall publish or cause to be
published (or give any interview to the media by whatsoever medium) which
contains criticism of the character of a Match Official or criticism of the manner in
which a Match Official has officiated at a game in which the Club or Player has
taken part, or of any other game under the control of the RFL.

That game wasn't under the control of the RFL though, if it had have been then it would have applied it's rules correctly.

I don't have a problem with players or coaches speaking their minds at all
post match! If you brake the rules it's not like your gonna be beheaded is it. you get a fine and take it on the chin Aussie coaches do it all the time. I think Keith will be more pi$$ed off by having to pay a fine that's coming his way. Plus if silverwood is like Keith says he's just gonna be gunning for us more now. So maybe it is best to keep your mouth shut.

Senior is not supposed to criticise the ref's performance.
However, no such rules rules apply to me and I think Silverwood was crap, verging on the gansonesque.

As a footnote -
Melbourne's style of slowing down the ptb is not the style of rugby I want to watch.
If I want to see inert piles of bodies on the ground, I can watch the six nations.

So who's control was it under then?.... and as far as I know there is only one set of published rules currently in operation by the RFL

international rules always seem to be something the aussies have been doing that we haven't

i don't like to blame the ref & state @ matches not the ref dropping the ball /missing tackles but the inconsistency of penalties given was something else last night including what appeared to be 3 final warnings wiped clean @ the interval.

Hasn't that been our gameplan of beating Saints in the last three grandfinals though? slow down their ptb?

Really? I can't think of anything more abhorrent than a sport watched by a load of drones not attempting to question or seek answers for injustice whether perceived or otherwise.

I don't think anyone who has a basic grasp of the rules of RL can think that Silverwood had a good game last night. Consistently allowing messy play of the ball making it look, at times, more like amateur RU than top flight league.

I would be very disappointed if players didn't question to be honest - shows a fine passion for the team and game. And yes, he will - and rightly - be spoken to by the RFL but RL players are human with human emotion. Expecting them to maintain a silence at all times is frankly naive.
