Would anyone else prefer it if the club held a veterans' challenge match on BD? We could then drop the pretence of it being a remotely competitive fixture, or even a useful part of pre-season, and enjoy the silky skills of players past. I think it would be an improvement.

My brothers RU club have a Vets vs Colts game at the end of every season, thats a team of ex-players in their 40s and 50s turning out against that seasons U19 team for a full contact RU match.

One minute into last years game one of the vets went off with knee ligament damage after he simply turned to pass the ball behind him and at the final whistle they had eight casualties from the Vets side, none of them minor enough not to need a visit to casualty the next morning

Remember this time last year, when the club had very few first choice players available (IIRC, about five the week before the game), hence the assortment of French 'trialists' turning out last year.
