Sorry just my opinion, who are the stronger back up halfs?

I can't think of any top established half backs being challenged in any SL team and Leeds are no different.

Eastmond would come closest to that position but if Long's face wasn't mashed Eastmond wouldn't be getting a look in as the starting half back.

Last years Grand Final proved that. Long came straight back into the side once he was anywhere near fit.

I thought the general rule was that all players are "challenged" every week by the opposition anyway and especially other players in their position for rep honours.


Eastmond at Saints is not a fair comparison because Burrow is not 33 and heading to a different club, if Eastmond was 6 years older would he still be at Saints now?

If McClennan feels either is not performing to the required standard, he can easily drop them and bring Sinfield in to replace them. Sinfield can cover to a better standard than virtually all backup halfbacks in SL. Therefore they are challenged. He has proved he is up to it in more than a quarter of the games this season.

If Leeds had a backup halfback as you require, Im not sure he would be better than Sinfield at covering the halves and therefore IMO wouldn't get a look in if either halfback was dropped because he wasn't performing.

His new tour was announced last week, although most of it has probably already been on mock the week.

Who have we got coming through the ranks at halfback?
Finding a championship halfback capable playing SL is for mine easier said than done.

I'd have thought that McGuire, Burrow and Sinfield is about as good as you could expect. I would have hoped that the Academy would turn out some kid to put pressure on the incumbents every now and then though.

Add Danny Allan as cover for 6 and 13. The Academy has turned out a few couldabeens (Gale, Moore, Briggs etc) but they were not going dislodge the incumbents so ended up moving on elsewhere.

You won't find many 19-20 year old halfbacks these days who would be happy to sit in the reserves as a backup player, they'll want to be playing every week even if it's at a lower level.
