I don't think he thought he had the pace to outrun Broughton coming across, so veered right expecting either Smith or Donald to have backed up the break and be on his shoulder.
In the end he did have the pace and the angle to get in without needing support, which is a good job as it wasn't particularly quick getting there.
Compare that calmness under pressure to Broughton, who got himself in such a tangle when forced to make a decision that he fell over his own feet. Hardly the clinical finish of a SL centre. |
