Have you seen the interest rates lately?

Under the old 50% cap system any club with in excess of a 10,000 average home gate were assumed capable of spending up to the full cap. As Leeds have always been in that position as a minimum under the cap seasons they have always had the ability to spend to the cap.

Leeds have not always spent their full cap allowance and in past seasons it might not have been necessary to do so. However this season we are understrength in the centres and at least one forward light.

It annoys me that Leeds find themselves in this position when there are competitions that should be within their grasp and cap money left unspent and quota spaces left empty.

I spent too many seasons having to accept second best from Leeds to accept it in this relative golden period for the club.

I'll have a Big Mac, large fries and a diet coke please. That's of course if you're even capable of using a till with pictures on it.

The interest rates from bank of england are 1% But try getting a loan from a bank for a large scale building project. You'd be lucky to get approved at the moment let alone get a decent rate.

Without getting into politics, sensible organisations keep money in reserve for a rainy day, and don't just spend when the times are good.

I agree that we could do with strengthening, and that it hurts me when we don't go from a position of power to a position of dominance, but our long term future needs to be safe first.

I've seen a figure stated somewhere (don't know where to be honest so it could be rank) that Leeds' turnover is in excess of £6,000,000 a year. The flat maximum salary cap is set at around £1,600,000 and it galls me that a club as seemingly well run as Leeds don't support the 1st team squad to the maximum they are permitted.

If they can get away with a fully functioning 25 man squad for less than the maximum cap then fine, good luck to them, their historical investment in youth is paying dividends. Great. But when they are understrength on number (Out - Ellis, Scruton, Tansey, Toopi/ In - Buderus, McShane) with cap money unspent and quota places unfilled then I think someone, somewhere is being shortchanged.

Its absolutely shocking. Its blooming terrible. Sack all the players, sack the board, sack the management. We shouldn't have lost so many matches at this point in the season.

I don't disagree. A new player would benefit us massively, however, with the squad we have and now we're out of the cup, we have a long time before we hopefully get fully tested again. Even with a few injuries we have the 17 to beat most of SL. I would rather we wait for the right time, rather than go too early and make a costly mistake.

I don't think we should get dragged into a situation where we are paying 6 figure transfer fees. Our situation is no where near as desperate as that of Wigan.

Turnover is no indicator of profit though is it? With spending on things various who's to say there is captial available.

It may hurt Leicester Rhino to see Leeds inability to turn power into dominance, but it'd hurt even more to see anything like the "Welcome to Bass Headingley" days.

As Emma points out we're not doing so bad, and for my twopennorth, does anyone have any idea if our 1st team coach has even asked Darth for new players? Or is he happy with his squad as is?

Or would McLennan be a t not to see that Leeds need another forward and another centre?

On the evidence so far, no longer holders of the WCC and out of the Challenge Cup at the first hurdle with home advantage, it doesn't fill me with confidence.

In a two horse race who's satisfied with finishing second. Some Leeds fans it would appear.

I imagine it will feel similar to after the WCC and the CC fourth round exits.

) show that the average punter is mystified with the recruitment policy at Headingley.

Even the most dedicated consumer of Wilson's Pies can surely see that a right sided centre and possabley a forward would benefit the current squad.

A club of our stature should easily be able to attract and finance any player.......... and yet GH appears to be reluctant to put his hand in his pocket.

Maybe Caddick has told him monies are being reserved for rebuilding the stadium, .....maybe GH has a cunning plan..... it would just be nice to know.

It's all well and good advocating lets buy a centre but who? Gleeson no way I strongly suspect the reason warrington have let him go is because he (possibly) has a desruptive effect in the dresing room, so who else? getting someone from aus at the moment is problematic (see eastwood) and none of the others are up to the standard we already have! The same goes for forwards .

Bored ...possibly.

I am sure they would have prefered the recent game to have been the final...but lets wait and see if they even reach the final shall we





and if they do (given the potential lack of quality opposition) I wonder what the attendance will be.

OK, I'll tell you how I feel.

WCC. Pretty OK actually. Manly were spectacularly good that day but we still gave them a game. 2nd best club in the world? I can handle that.

As we didn't finish 2nd in the CC (if only) then my feelings are hardly comparable but I was crushed.

Now, the real thing. Finish 2nd to the Super League Champions. You'll have to ask a Saints fan for that one. If that happens to us in October remind me and I'll let you know. Until then I have enough to worry about without pondering how I will feel if something that may happen happens in 6 months time. Like, how long do I have to wait before the young wench ion the office brings me my next cup o' T.
