| i think we should probably let Kylie go, or at most keep him on a years contract
he is getting on, and as good as he is, its a pretty poor effort if we cant get someone as good from GB,
also there are plenty of similar players knocking around the NRL who will probably be a bit cheaper

| Quote ="tvoc"Smith is now a current full International and will be deserving of moving up a bracket or several from his previous contract signed June 2005, almost four years ago.
Without knowing all the grades within the much alluded to unbreakable pay structure wouldn't Smith be looking at around the mark attained by the other current Internationals? and perhaps there is only room for so many of those within the squad at Leeds with the likes of Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow, Peacock and JJB sorted and Smith, Senior yet to commit.'" A Very salient point.
We may have to accept that we will become victims of our own success and have to lose certain players. After all, its' not like we're Saints, Wigan, Bradford or Hull. We believe in, and stick to, the salary cap.

Please fell free to hold out for as much as you can, and if you have to leave, then I'm sure your career will improve.

I'm sorry, and this is not aimed at you, but there is a difference between pure greed and a player getting what he is worth.
Too many times we trot these same lines out about ex players going for money.
Oo the ones above from what it appears, only Chev Walker went for money far over and above what he was worth, which is what you will get from Union. Scruton also went for more money, but the difference to what he was offered from Leeds was quite significant, and by all accounts the offer from Leeds was under what he was worth, but at same time the Bulls went over.
Hetherington has managed us very well in his time. But all wage structures need to be fair. If they have, then nobody can complain at him.

To be fair though scruton was offered what he was worth within our structure so he did leave for the money!
Fair play to him but don't be fooled into thinking he was offered less than his worth because within our structure it doesn't match up to others.

We were talking about this on Friday night.
Us and Sheffield Eagles are the only clubs to win trophies in the Super League era who have never broken the Salary Cap.
With Sheffield out of the Super League, that makes us the last champions of honesty.

I know the exact figure Scruton was offered, and I know the exact figure he signed for Bradford on.
Leeds offer was much nearer his worth than the Bulls offer, but still under, and could easily have been negotiated. That said though, you can hardly blame a player for taking that difference for a short career.

In Scruton's case, wanting a contract to reflect something he had yet to achieve on the field was a bit presumptuous though.

| im a big scroots fans but!!!! i wonder how his fat pay cheque feels now?
just as tempting or would he rather be home with his mates leading the victory song.
i know its a short career and you have to do whats right at the time. but a part of me also says if its such a short career then get a job after you finish and work till 65 like most others. if your a journey man at an also ran club then fair enough but if your with the best club in the land??
i can see why it happens, i just think there might have been a bit of soul searching from those who got a little ahead of themselves and jumped ship too early.
cash wont stop scroots feeling like total $hite by the end of most weekends.

| I'd Be Gutted To Lose Kylie Leuluai Especially To A Rival Super League Club Such As Wigan Warriors, Although Come The End Of March He Will Be 31 So I Just Hope He Isn't Looking For A Better Pay DayOtherwise We Will Be Best Looking For A Younger Option...

Scruton's re-signing for the Rhinos would obviously incurr a transfer fee, as he is under contract at the Bulls for 3 years, i couldn't theirfor imagine GH re-signing a player that he's just let leave the club, and also pay a transfer fee for him can you?

Re-signing player's that have left Leeds is pretty much a non-starter in any case. The transfer fee element only adds to the improbability even further.

I actually think that Kylie has improved our front row since he joined the club, he was used in Aus mainly as an impact player, but he has evolved at the Rhinos into a player that can actually start the match, and who make a very telling impact as well
If Kylie's motives are solely based on money then i say good luck to him, let him sign for whoever for more money, as he's in the twilight of his career
Or he could do as Brent Webb did, and reject a higher contract offer from elsewhere<Warrington> and stay at a club where he's clearly very happy and have a very good chance of winning further silverware

It won't be by the clubs choice thats for sure!

Simon Irving, Dean Bell and Gary Mercer are the only ones that I remember being contracted to the club on more than one occasion (separately), whilst there may be more.
I don't doubt that it's unlikely that we will ever see Nick Scruton again (in a Leeds shirt) it was a bit of a conjecture at best.
FWIW, I think Leuluai will probably stay, but would not be difficult to replace from the massed throng of NRL wannabees.....

And only Mercer among those had two proper stints in the first team.
Bell's being a one off (where he came out of retirement and selected himself because he got to the right centre position and thought I could do better than that) and Irving never played 1st grade in his brief second stint.
