I have no problem with that if that is the case, and I have always been a big fan of Briscoe. However, if the cash tight is correct why resign him? and I would say exactly the same with Hall aswell? why use up much needed money for wingers, when it is easire to bring in people on the wing and do the position, than it is for the other positions, positions we are desperatley short on.

As for Walters, not even worth discussing. That is just madness.

I'd go as far as saying resigning Briscoe is madness. Will be on a hefty wage too no doubt. A shadow of the player he used to be, offers little in attack these days and highly suspect under high balls. We' d have been better off re-signing his brother.

Fine with Briscoe, since his horror show in the CC last year he has actually knuckled down and got his form and confidence back.

Mullaly is a worthwhile squad player and has improved, so no issues with that.

If Walters is not on a high wage I’m ok with it, if he’s on a high wage its highly questionable

Unless we have done a great bit of business and slashed his salary then we should be moving TB on.
I would rather have someone from the 19`s or Handley on the RW better still look at getting McGilvary or Johnstone but that will cost money.

Briscoe mullally walters leaves me feeling underwhelmed. But we can't lose all the out of contracts so if it means we move on keinhorst jjb ablett and Delaney and actually sign some class to replace them that would be a start!

Agreed, he has had a few top games here and there but on the whole he hasn't lived up to the billing.

All could have gone for me and i wouldn't have batted an eyelid but i can live with retaining Mullally, he is no great shakes but fits into the rotation prop role. Keeping Walters is laughable, surely we have some young back rowers at the club who could easily provide what he offers from next year and beyond?

I think Mullally is underrated. He's one of the few forwards we have with any go forward.

I don’t know because like you I don’t know how much they signed for. However I am very confident we could have two better for less. In Walters case I am 100% certain we could have better for less.

Briscoe almost certainly took a pay cut for this new deal and he's, most of the time, reliable. The backline, left centre apart, is one area we are pretty robust so it makes sense to keep steady there if there are relatively big changes elsewhere.

Or, alternatively, perhaps Ryan Hall is leaving....

On the Walters front, he'll be one of the lowest paid players in the league, you're certainly not going to get someone with the same amount of experience for that money. Granted he doesn't add anything game breaking, but he does a job when we're short on numbers, and isn't someone who we need to keep happy - he's happy to be a squad man, give his all when he gets a game, and not chelp when he's not getting a game. But he certainly isn't breaking the bank or stopping us signing anyone else.

You can argue he's stopping another young lad getting a game, but McD knows what he can do and he's trusted to come into the team and do his job.

We certainly don't need to worry that his signing is going to stop us signing a superstar.

Were not going to sign any superstars so dont build your hopes up. Weve massive commitments that are going to have a financial impact for years to come.

Im sure we will make a couple of signings but it wont be anywhere as dramatic as people think in my opinion. I can see the club giving kids a chance again starting next year. Newman, Holroyd, Johnson and possibly Trout will all step up in first team squad.

I don't have a problem with only a couple of players coming in and kids getting a go. In the current era where everyone is on longer contracts its hard to replace players en masse, so re-signing Briscoe and Mullally isn't a problem either. Walters is just pointless, as he won't be first 17, will spend most of next year on loan and would just block a kid from a game if he gets picked.

I do have a problem with too many of the older players hanging around when they should leave. Its starting to look like they're all going to hang on until the club calls time, regardless of how little they offer. The problem is you could make a case for keeping any one of the older players, and GH and BM clearly feel they owe them loyalty. But there comes a point when they just become a millstone as they can't play a full season and even when fit are not playing well enough as a group. Whilst loyalty fro the club is important, some of these guys need to have a good look at themselves and call it quits.
